D&D 5E Meet the Japanese Iconic D&D Party!

The Japanese language release of D&D 5E is happening this year, and WotC has created a new 'iconic' pregenerated adventuring party, illustrated by Chomoran, as part of the launch.

The party consists of:
  • Cal Skiprock, lightfoot halfling rogue
  • Lafail, half-elf cleric of Selune
  • Atria Dawnguard, a human fighter
  • Oldscar, high elf wizard
  • Turalish, dragonborn fighter

The half-elf is shorter because he is a teenage.

I see Hasbro/WotC to be interested into the Japanese market, and I guess not only about to sell more sourcebooks but also maybe publishing D&D manga in the future.

Japanese companies also should be interested into D&D, and not only about collabs in videogames, but also using this to introduce their titles in the international market.

Hard agree on both of the above. D&D Manga by the right artists would be amazing (will start a thread on that in a bit...)
* About the pointed ears by elves, in my land there is a tradition in the children birthdays about a ear tug for each year because longed ears are symbol of long life and wisdow.
In the US, there's one where you get spanked once on the bottom for every year - clearly in high school (ages 14-18) that becomes more painful

Also, just the idea of spanking kids is going waaaay out of style here in the states I think, at least in a lot of communities, so maybe we need to come up with a new one

One of my favorites is one from... Spain maybe? Anyway, instead of you recieving gifts on your birthday, you give them out to your friends and family. Not sure how 1 year olds accomplish that, but it's a cool idea anyway

It seems a bit out of step from what I'm used to from fantasy manga. Perhaps there's a different tradition I'm less familiar with that it draws from like light novels?

Iconic party of 5? Nope. 2 fighters? And both in heavy armor? Nope.

Iconic parties are either 4 members or 6. 5 is not allowed. Cuz I said so.

2 fighters? Ok, but both heavy armor? How boring? Is that just to get a token female fighter? Why not have the dragonborn be a barbarian? Or a swashbuckler/dex fighter?

That art is cool, but iconic it is not (for me).
