Men or Monsters?

I have a policy against using much of anythign straight out of the Monster Manual, so if it's a monster, it'd usually templated or has class levels (not always though, it's fun when it's to the point where I can give my players monsters straight from the manual to trip them up... heh).

Still, in answer to your question... both. But in any major combat there tends to be at least one intelligent foe, be it human or monstrous. My current campaign features mostly evil outsiders, as in it the Apocalypse of the campaign world is going on and demons are running amok. However, I tend to enjoy splitting it evenly between men and monsters.

I like to have humans and humanoids of various levels as opponents, often with slaved monsters, but primarily the humanoids. Nothing like a good duel between equal level fighters or wizards, or simiiar situations. Evil clerics heading up cults and stuff is great fun, and they always seem to have a monster or two on a chain somewhere.
