When I saw the title to this thread, my immediate thought was it was going to be about a school of metal magic for 5e. Kind of like the one in the Arcane Elemental schools of magic in Pathfinder.

Of the 30 bands listed, I’ve heard of around 20, actually heard music by 15-18, and own 1+ CDs by 4.

I think I've heard of about 25 of them, but only heard maybe ten before this.

Haven't listened to any of the bands. I might have heard 4 (a friend playing them in that case), and I know that I had heard about them. 5 bands I am unsure if I have heard about them or seen their records. The rest I hadn't even heard about afaik.

And yes, I used to watch Headbanger's ball on MTV back then.
