[MM2e] Salton City Needs Heroes! Episode 1: Premiere

Freedom Theater
"We haven't discussed how this is going to work yet," she comments. "Are there cameras in every room? What are our obligations as far as appearing on them?"

"The cameras are located in every room except the bathrooms, wardrobe and bath. The cameras located on the bed rooms and the confession room are installed with a 'discretion switch' so you can turn them on and off by verbal commands or by pressing a button. You are only obligated to be filmed while participating in mission/patrol related activities or while in the the headquarters itself."

"Do we have other residences for our 'normal' identities, or are we expected to be equally recognizable in and out of costume? If that's the case, can we have friends visit us? Family? Exactly how isolated are we meant to be?"

"Unfortunately, you are meant to be equally recognizable, but should you wish for anonymity My Tea Productions will provide you an expert make-up artist that can help disguise your appearance for when you are on camera. My Tea Productions is also providing housing outside of the headquarters and you will be allowed to entertain guests at that residence. I should note that you will need to sign a waver if you would like that that location to be exempt from filming, however doing so will reduce the size of your stipend by a considerable amount. Also your guests will also need to sign a waver should they desire to have their likeness appear on film."

Richard Diceman's Limo
"My name, fair citizen, is Dord, Master of Density!" et cetera.

Richard Stroked his five o'clock shadow for a moment then smirked. "Yes, you are extremely lucky. In fact, I would dare say that you might be one of the luckiest bastards on the face of this planet. You see, not only did I ripped you out of the festering ****hole called Riverside Country California; I am also giving you the opportunity to be adored by millions pea brained individuals around the world. Imagine your name, Dord, the Master of Density, plastered on the cover of countless magazines with TMZ giving a report every time you take a dump. That's how famous I can make you, because I, Richard Diceman, am the genius responsible for many TV shows that you undoubtedly have watched or may have heard about." Richard pressed a button on his counsel, and within a few seconds, the limo pulled to the side of the road.

Richard then put his hands together and leaned forward. "Frankly, given what I just told you, it should not be surprising that I have the ability to make you into one of the most well know super Hero stars in existence. In fact, when I picked you up, I was heading toward the set of a reality television show that I am currently producing. Fortunately, for you, two of the individuals I selected to be on the show proved to be unreliable meaning there is now an opening for a would-be super hero like yourself to join my cast."

"With that said, the choice is entirely yours to make. If you would like, you can take my offer and see where it takes you or you can get the hell out of my limo and never speak of this ride to anyone. So, what will it be?"

Max Freedman, aka Dord

Max's eyes widen as the limo owner talks, his jaw open. It takes him a second to respond, though when he does, it's with a manic level of energy.

"Richard Diceman? But you ... then the show ... Needs Heroes? I get to be on Needs Heroes?!? Are you ... ? I auditioned ages ago, but I heard the cast was all international, though, and super-super and ... but ...

"Yes! Absolutely, unequivocably, one thousand percent yes!"
the young man blurts out, finally, momentarily coherent.

Richard Diceman's Limo, Salton City
An amused smile formed on Richard's face, "You have made a very wise choice." He then pressed a button and after a short delay, the limo pulled back onto the road way. Moments later, Richard got back onto his cell phone and began making arrangements.

Minutes later, the limo entered into a parking garage adjacent to a movie theater then began wind its way through the secret base's access corridor.

The mayor seemed anxious as Emily spoke and constantly glanced down at his watch. The 10 Ft. Pole fidgeted.

Then from behind the group a voice spoke up. "That waiver is industry standard which allows us permission not to blur out your face or alter your voice digitally. Let me make things clear, like it or not, you are obligated to appear on film. You get to choose if your face appears blurred, not blurred or if your appearance is disguised on out of costume. You also may choose to use each other's real names when you are not doing whatever heroes do, but since we are selling the product called 'The Salton Stars' I would prefer that only codenames are used during missions/patrols."

Emily crossed her arms. "Well then, Richard, who is your companion?"

Smugly, Richard glanced at Dord. "He is our new Archon who I may add, I picked to replace Rabid Fox and Spring-Heeled Jack. Why don't you all introduce yourselves."

Keiko smiles and shrugs. "Hai hai," she singsongs, waggling her head side to side. "I wouldn't be here if I minded being on camera. I just like to know the fine print."

She comes over and offers her hand first to Richard, then to the archon beside him.

"Keiko Ishimura, also known as..."

There's a swirl of dark fog around her, that clears in just a second or so leaving her in her slinky black bodysuit and mask.

"...Kitsune."

The costume dissolves and Keiko is again just an adorably cute Japanese girl.

She backs up to give the others room to introduce themselves and greet the newcomers.

Max blushes as the young woman changes into her costume, stuttering out his own introduction:

"Me ... I mean, I'm Max, I mean Dord, Master of Destin... I mean Density. Destiny I got nothing on, believe me."

"Ieg ys Sven. Ieg lyft big thyngs" The Viking says, completely oblivious to the fact that they were just told to use only their "hero names". His muscles bulged even through the chainmail and fur coat that he still wouldn't remove.

"Nice to meet you mate" says Terrence in his cheeky English accent while offering a hand out "The names Terrence Vance, codename Mr TV. Welcome to the Salton Stars Dorn" Terrence grins.

Max's eyes widen as he cranes his neck up to see the norseman. Then he smiles, growing to be eye-level with his new teammate.

"That's better," he says, offering a handshake. "Pleasure to meet you."

"Nice to meet you mate" says Terrence in his cheeky English accent while offering a hand out "The names Terrence Vance, codename Mr TV. Welcome to the Salton Stars Dorn" Terrence grins.

Max shrinks back to his normal height to return his British teammate's handshake. "So you're who we blame for BBC, then?" he says, laughing manically. When he realizes no one else is laughing, he stops, blushing. "Sorry," he says sheepishly. "So, then, am I the only American on this season?"

The Ten-Foot Pole extends a hand out towards Max. "My name is Mikel Styrzkwalski , the Ten-Foot. Pole."

Richard smiled smugly. "Good, now that everyone has met, I am Richard Diceman, the genius behind this and other super heroic reality television series."

Max asked, "So, then, am I the only American on this season?"

Emily throws a quick glance towards Richard. "Due to Richard's ingenious selection process*, you were the only American that even got selected. Although, Michelle Fox did briefly join this group (but I do not think she counts considering she is Canadian)."

"Now to official business. I am pleased to hear that your group has preformed exceptionally in your prevention of the Mayor Earhart's and Captain Superior's assassination, however, Captain Superior becoming a victim of the assassination attempt might be problematic, but I am certain that my editors can weave the previous events of this day into a narrative that will test well with our prime demographic." Richard took off his glasses and began to wipe them off. "That said, I think it is important that everyone is up to speed on so that we the crew will have an idea of what your group plans on doing."

The Mayor speaks up. "If it isn't too much of a problem, if you guys need to ask me any questions, can you do it as soon as possible? I need to check up on my kids."

Max snort-laughs. "I get it! Good one!"

Max listens intently as the producer speaks, then says, "Wait, someone hurt Captain Superior?!?"

"Um, also the mayor!" Max returns, coming out of his stunned realization. "I mean, it's awful that someone would go after the mayor, obviously ...

"Seriously, they got Captain Superior?"
