[MM2e] Salton City Needs Heroes! Episode 1: Premiere

Almost immediately "three pop-cultural divas" end up getting attention. At first, the received the expected cries of 'OMG! Is that who I think it is?' Those cries were then followed by a chorus of name calling (both proper degrading) as a crowd began to form around the treo. When it became apparent that the stars were not going to sign autographs, things turned ugly. Within seconds, the crowds pushing and shoving turned into a small localized brawl erupted centered around the celebritantes, which ended up causing the news crews to pull away from their reporting on city hall.

"Ouch," Max says at the violence. "Guess that's our cue, though? But ... maybe it's time the limo drove off, before there's real blood?"

As the news crews were drawn to the drama like flies to rotting meat, Keiko nodded at Max and gestured for the rest to follow her as she hurried across the square to the city hall.

Meanwhile, the three celebrities dove into the crowd to get to the limo again. Since Keiko was concentrating more on getting to City Hall, the movements of the illusions weren't very well synched to the environment. More than one person in the throng found themselves moving through a starlet...though in the chaos, it wasn't easy to tell who was who, and who was where.

Once the team was safely across, the limo pulled away and drove swiftly off...vanishing once it got around a corner.

Salton City Hall ---> Mayor Earhart's's Office
Once inside Salton City Hall, the Mayor lead the group through the building towards his second floor office. As the group makes there way through the building they are greeted by surprised stairs and hushed whispers and it soon becomes apparent that they were being followed towards the mayor's office by many of the people they passed. The Mayor quickly turned and smiled. "We don't get many super heroes or camera crews here, and I'm certain they heard about what happened here today."

Once in the office, the Mayor made a bee-line to the safe and began to twist and turn the knobs, while overlooking something that immediately grabbed everyone's attention: Sticking to the front of the Mayor's chair is a knife that is holding a piece of paper firmly against the chair's back. From where the group stood, the note appeared to be a standard ransom note.

"Your horor...ary...mayorness," Max says, stumbling over what the proper title might be, "Um, was that there when you left?" he points to the note, moving in to get a closer look.

Keiko's looks at the chair and her eyes widen.

"No one touch it!" she barks, holding her hands out with fingers splayed to motion 'stop.'

A second later she says, "There's a note. I'm going to pull it out. Sven, stay close to the Mayor."

She concentrates on the dagger, easing it gently out of the chair with telekinesis, then sliding the note off and flattening it on the table for reading, all without touching either one.

peering at the knife before hoping back a step or two as Keiko starts the paper moving and a cloud of cartoon smoke appears and disapeers leaving a Terrence behind.
"So what does it say?"

OOC: Hopefully ENWorld doesn't die upon my posting... again..

Mayor Ernhart.

You're stubborn refusal to comply with our demands will cost you greatly. We have taken both of your precious kids and if you do not deliver $50,000.00 to us, your kids will be sent to slaughter and served at the local fair. We will give you further instructions in a few hours, so try not to leave your office before then.

The Mayor turned around. "Oh no! Not Billy and Sally! You guys have to save them!"

As the group reads the note, Max bites his lip.

"I'm going with this being not good," he says, then looks around. "But how did they get in here in the first place? Is this how the other notes were delivered?"

Keiko read the note, then again, then looked up at the Mayor as he wailed about his children.

"No," she replied to Max slowly, thoughtfully. Then she added, "We should call the police. They can check for fingerprints and put a trace on the Mayor's office phone."

Fifty thousand dollars wouldn't be nearly enough ransom for a mayor's two kids, she thought to herself. And a knife in a desk chair is pure TV. It's a terrible way to leave a note. Too many clues left behind. Too many ways to mess up and get caught. Whoever's doing this is either an amateur, or trying to seem like one.

"We can ask the city hall staff if they saw anyone around the office too." Keiko looked at the Mayor again. "Are there cameras in the hall outside?" she asked him.
