MrNevers… Bwa ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaa!

I’ve asked a good dear, squishy tentacled friend of mind to provide some illustrations for our illustrious creations. Don’t touch him, he bites!

This thread here would be a good place to post such works of art (hint hint), as well as to comment and tell him how awful they are. Or, better yet, to make suggestions. :)

Heres some sketches. Let me know what you think. I'm totally open to discussion. If something needs to be changed, lemme know!

Ooohhh, shiny! :D

The brainstealer dragon is almost as I envisioned it - just the wings are a tad small. They don't look like they could carry the dragon, and don't seem quite fleshy.

The mind worm has a bit of a catterpillar - I intended it to look more like a purple worm. But without the legs, it would be great as well!

I like the single eye on the nerve swimmer! The four tentacles do give a "forked look" as well, though my original intention was a two-way split. But since the four tentacles add to the mind flayer connection, that's ok. :)

Knight Otu created those three scary things out of his head. ;)

oh right, I was wondering about that. The dragons can fly, the wings are more like fleshy membranes (carnivorous flying squirrels anyone?) rather than traditional dragon-style wings.

maybe we need an example of the purple worm (see below - complete with bad, quickie erase job!). I do love the look of the mind worm above, even if it isn't quite what you had in mind.

originally, they were described as looking like a letter "Y". I'm almost regretting taking that part out of the description.

tell you what i'm going to do - i'm going to want to submit the article over the weekend to meet the deadline, but if you want to work on those sketches some more, and/or do some new ones for the other 5 critters, i can submit a second package of just illustrations. i'll send these three along as-is for now. it takes the editors weeks to look over article submissions, so i can send that in any time.

and if you guys like his work, there is more to see... http://www.roughbeasts.com/

Ferret, don't tell me you haven't been paying attention to what we've been doing around here for the last month or so. :) go have a look around at the more recent threads to see what we've been doing with our Mind Flayer article for Dragon mag. We're going to do more articles, when/if we hear more from the editors.

The monsters depicted here are detailed in this thread: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=116455

I just found out that MrNevers is on vacation in hawaii (lucky bastard). ;) when he gets back, I’ll ask him if he was going to do anything more for us, but by then it may be too late. *shrug* if so, that’s OK, we’ll just take advantage of him for some other project. :D
