Quickness from the choker is a supernatural ability. You can't use it unless you use Shapechange.
That's what metamorphic transfer is for:

METAMORPHIC TRANSFER [PSIONIC]

You can gain a supernatural ability of a metamorphed form.
Prerequisite: Wis 13, manifester level 5th.

Benefit: Each time you change your form, such as through the metamorphosis power, you gain one of the new form’s supernatural abilities, if it has any.

You gain only three uses of the metamorphic ability per day, even if the creature into which you metamorph has a higher limit on uses (You are still subject to other restrictions on the use of the ability.) The save DC to resist a supernatural ability gained through Metamorphic Transfer (if it is an attack) is 10 + your Cha modifier + 1/2 your Hit Dice.

No matter how many times you manifest the metamorphosis power on a given day, you can gain only a total of three supernatural ability transfers per day.

Normal: You cannot use the supernatural abilities of creatures whose form you assume.

Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Each time, you can gain one additional supernatural ability

Improved initiative, lot's of spells/powers to cast and an extra standard action every round to allow you to cast them...

Arguably, each extra standard action taken via Quickness could be considered a 'use of the metamorphic ability'.

It's really a shame, that even though they did errata it, which was so necessary, they still failed to address the main issue... continuous abilities. ;)

Yes, because most continuous (SU) abilities that could be used with the feat aren't nearly so broken as the quickness of the Choker.

For purposes of this thread, if the feat is not house-ruled somehow, it makes for a VERY ANNOYING character build. By 14th level, add in Temporal Acceleration and Schism, with a dose of Astral Construct (through expanded knowledge), and you can get off 6 standard actions a round, summoning lot's of critters to the point that you will dominate all of the action in combat and just about everyone else will be spectators.

I'm guessing that scoring a lot of Annoyance Points is something Aurio would like to see here.

It just occurred to me, if the point is to make life hard on Aurio's DM, perhaps I should start a new thread calling for new spells. Working together, I think we could come up with some really outlandishly broken spells and all agree quite seriously that they are reasonable and balanced. Assuming that Aurio's DM isn't an EN World regular, but is open to house-rules, and that this character is just a practical joke anyway, Aurio could refer his/her DM to the new thread to show him/her the new new spells, and just how reasonable everybody agrees they are.

Any opinions?

Heck if he wants "broken spells" just use Relics and Rituals, Magic of Faerun and top it off with taking the Dragon Magic feat to cast dragon spells! ;)

Broken is in the eye of the DM.

I like elvish Sorcerers or Specialist Mages with True Strike, Flame arrow, Pyrotechnics, etc. Add alchemy to the mix (firebombs, acid splashes, etc.), and you've got a PC that can wreak havoc with opponents.

Sometimes, being annoying isn't about power tweeking, but creative spell use...infinitely repeated. Find a few key spells that you can cast in game-altering ways, and cast them until sick. Then cast them again.

Grease & Shrink Item spring to mind. Buff spells like Bull's Strength used to be annoying, but they've toned them down in 3.5. Web and Sleep can disable large groups of opponents.

As the spellcaster advances in levels, have those meat & potato spells made into items, to further your abuse.

For PrCls, decide whether you want to be an armored spellcaster (Rage Mage, Spellsword, etc.) or if you want some kind of new power subset (Cerebromancers, Void Disciples), and commit to it.
