I'm not surprised; I didn't know how they could make that movie without it being PG-13, based on
Wormtail's hand cutting off, Diggory's murder and all that.

I agree with JD. I just finished reading the book for the first time and there is no way to make it a film and have it PG while still keeping the key parts of the story.

I didn't love the 3 HP movies (just watched them all for the first time very recently) but I did think that they were about as faithful as their were going to get to the books without being 4+ hours long which would have probably alienated much of the younger audiences. They were already long at 2+ hours. That said, I am looking forward to November.

I'm kinda hoping that they release (LotR style) extend cuts of the films in the future. We know they shot many scenes that had to be edited out. A little post production magic and we can have some of the better sub-plots (like the Quidditch cup in the 3rd book) put back in.

The deleted scenes that were filmed are already included on the DVDs, although sadly (I've gotten spoiled from the LotR extended DVDs) they are not integrated into the movie itself.

Sadly, a lot of the subplots that were deleted were obviously deleted before filming; very few of them make any kind of meaningful appearance on the deleted scenes.
