Dante raises a good point in regards to your scenario, Adslahnit. The Wizard who casts such a spell inflicts less damage, but has cast a single spell, and has a lot more. The psion, by contrast, has still paid to augment the power point cost of his powers up to 100, which is almost one-third of his total power points, since he gains no new power points after 20th level (without taking a feat to gain more). Hence, he could deal such a massively-damaging power if he wanted to, but he won't be able to keep doing that for long. Whereas the wizard is just getting started with dishing out punishing spells.

Balance is maintained regarding damage capacity over the total course of a battle.

Exactly, which means pound for pound a wizard is much more dangerous than a psion if that psion can't drop that wizard in the first three rounds.

Howdy Ltheb mate! :)

Well, with photoshop, you can use 'layers' to paint individual things, like painting Surtur and his Heat Ray separately. Then you can touch them up without affecting the other layers, and layer them however you want. (Like if you decide the heat ray needs to be more transparent, you can adjust that) If you get the chance to play around with it and get used to it, even the basic functions of photoshop might be useful.

The problem is that if I do it, its going to look like its been photoshopped. I imagine it would take a lot of time to learn to digitally 'paint' and make it look like a painting, and even more time to do a painting and then paint large chunks of it over the top with photoshop and make it look seamless.

Otherwise, its great to hear that cover is almost done. The print bestiary cover was so awesome, I can't wait to see this one.

Way better than last time...it almost looks like a real artist painted it. :p

Well, painting digitally might be tricky and probably would require alot of experimentation with brush settings. (Though I am sure it can be done) What I was suggesting is that the individual parts that make up the image be painted separately, and then touched up in photoshop and re composited into one image. Surtur too short? You can make him taller without repainting the whole image. Photoshop is really good at blending things together, so unless you have a strange clash of colors or sloppy copy-paste work only photoshop experts could tell. Alternatly, since you need to scan the finished painting before it becomes a cover, you could use photoshop to do some last minute touch up with the high resolution image.

Just a suggestion. :) I find Photoshop extremly useful for maps and game aids. :)

That's because you don't know how to cook them.

Simple: preheat a barrel-fire to ~1,800 degree F; slather XPH and 3.0 Psionics Handbook (plus any other desired psionic texts) with kerosene; insert into barrel; bring to a high roaring flame; rub hands together; enjoy the free space on the shelf and the removal of the dumbest thing D&D has ever done.

Psionics: "Because we just have to be different."
