Hey guys! :)

Glad you all like the cover (or those of you who mentioned it so far).

The snaky fingers idea was inspired by three panels by Jack Kirby featuring Surtur from 1965.

The scans look a lot more 'extreme red'. I think thats because I opened it in CMYK rather than RGB, so its displaying it wrong to a degree.

The original painting is 46 cm x 36 cm, scanned at 65% and 75dpi res. So its missing a lot of detail, the hilt of Surtur's sword has tons of detail and you will be able to see the individual teeth of the dwarf in the final 600dpi version. ;)

Wow, UK. Serious kudos on the cover; the action is great and the execution of the idea is (respectfully) much better than the Bestiary cover.

How much longer on the update" Are you still aiming for the end of November?

I'll update at the end of November, should be all text and more interior art. I doubt all the interior art will be complete though.

Glad you like the cover. ;)

Few interesting things I noticed about the cover:

1.) Surtur looks unnaturally purple. I was expecting blackened skin with glowing orange outlines to match the fire giant theme, but this is okay, I guess.

2.) Why is the druid wild shaping into a lime-green Tarrasque?

3.) Is that a Green Lantern fist I see coming from the mage, only blue?

4.) The dwarf confuses me. Is he charging towards Surtur or running away? The orientation and direction of his hammer and shield suggest the former, but his face and feet facing the viewer suggest the latter. Or is he some sort of weird Ouzalum dwarf?

Surtur is black, however with very strong red/orange light sourcing he has a purple 'sheen' to him. So elements like his hand and face are close to strong light sourcing.

Also he has a sort of red veined exoskeleton thing going on. As I mentioned previously the solid black really looked a bit bland when I painted it.

2.) Why is the druid wild shaping into a lime-green Tarrasque?

I initially had the Tarrasque the corerct browny colour but it just didn't stand out well against the lava at all. Also pre 3E the Tarrasque actually was green...so there! :p

3.) Is that a Green Lantern fist I see coming from the mage, only blue?

Its meant to be a visual representation of a Bigby's Clenched Fist spell.

4.) The dwarf confuses me. Is he charging towards Surtur or running away? The orientation and direction of his hammer and shield suggest the former, but his face and feet facing the viewer suggest the latter. Or is he some sort of weird Ouzalum dwarf?

The Dwarf is flying towards Surtur ready to whack him with the anvil hammer but gets zapped by the eye beams (should have kept his Gateshield up).

Hey guys! :)

Exactly the word I was looking for.

I realize this is usually when I show up and say something bitter and dis-spiriting about schedule problems, but holy crap that is metal as hell

Eh, I was just kidding there. It's only now when I see an illustration of it that I realize that the Bigby spells are Green Lantern-y.

So he's turning his head 180 degrees to avert his eyes?

A quick question regarding Apostasy.

In regards to determining alignment-based abilities...do we treat the deity as the most advantageous alignment...or their own alignment.

1st example...A cleric radiates and aura-based on their alignment...do they radiate no alignment...or the alignment they desire to radiate?

2nd example...A cleric can Turn or Rebuke Undead...does a deity choose the one they desire to do at the moment of character creation, choose the one of their actual alignment (although they are technically beyond alignment), or do they decide each time they use the ability, which version they will be using?

3rd example...An evangelist that is evil inspires dread...and evangelist that is good inspires hope. Does a deity with the apostasy power decide which one they will use and stick with it after character creation, do they switch between the two when they want to, or do they use the one corresponding to their true alignment?

Apostasy, via the way it is written, only grants a defensive effect. If anything checks for alignment, you are immune if you have apostasy. (IE Detect evil won't detect you even if you were evil, and a Word of Chaos spell won't harm a lawful deity with this power) It does not change you alignment. You still are your original alignment, technically. You use your 'real' alignment for determining class features.

At least I think thats how it is intended to work.
