Howdy Killane! :)

any update on when ascension will be available?

At this point, no. I need about ten days to finish the art. I should get two of those days over the next three days (during which I am off), real life usurping the other day.

do you knoe hoe long the Print version wait will be- I can't wait to buy the thing!

I certainly expect the turnaround to be faster than it was with the Bestiary. But I can't give you an actual date until I give Mongoose the final pdf.

also, ask you can see I'm new here (through not a Dicefreaks where I go by a different name)- where is the best place to post a custom template and or full character made using IMMortal's Handbook rules (or what I've seen so far, having only the Bestiary). I'd love to hear some comments form U_K on them.

I think someone was kind enough to already answer this...thanks. ;)

and when do we get to see a preview for gods and monsters?

Lets get Ascension done before I start previewing the next book. :p

Is this the one you meant Farealmer matey?

Sorry for the delay.

Then i have another, rather complicated question for you. :o
If you disregarded the guidelines of the core books how would you handle this? Because i don't use the HD doubling guideline and i understand thats one of the big problems you have balancing HP and Damage.

I don't have a problem with it, its simply a mechanic of D&D, its just the fact that you are talking about planetary hit points and damage using a system that was never designed for such things, not even remotely.

If I rewrote D&D I would probably have something a bit closer to realistic damage derived from scale. Maybe double damage for every size increase to parallel Hit Dice.

Fine: None unless swarm.
Diminutive: 1 on crit
Tiny: 1
Small: 1d3
Medium: 1d6
Large: 2d6
Huge: 4d6
Gargantuan: 8d6
Colossal: 16d6 (or 10d10)
Titanic: 20d10
Macro-Fine: 40d10

...and of course double damage for any Crushing Blows that pin targets to a solid surface.

Yes and thats alright. I know your a busy guy.

I have a question. I believe you mentioned the HP system for planets and other objects is accuarte based on the D20 system and that you scale weapon damage based on them. Is that correct.
Because for me i don't use HD, i instead use object hp based on size catagory as a guideline. Which balances damage output to hp at higher sizes(because i use right up to and beyond the peak even created 100 new sizes). I don't care how it conforms to D20 HD increase i just want to make sure it fits with you calculations of hp based on size.

I'm trying to figure out the divine rank of the various sidereal-level characters of the Touhouverse (such as Yukari and Flandre), but I need some more info on the ranks of the sidereals. All I know so far is that Elder Ones are the personifications of layers, Old Ones are the embodiments of planes, and First Ones are the reifications of layers. Is this correct?

However, are they REQUIRED to be this way in order for them to have overgod status? For example, can an Old One "retire" from his position, passing it on to another Old One, and live a less responsibility-filled life interacting with other sidereals and deities, all while retaining its Old One status? Or can an immortal rise to sidereal status without having to merge with the plane/layer/dimension at all?

In case you're wondering where this is from, it's from a certain Japanese curtain firing shooting game called "Touhou". Once you get past all the wide-eyed girls and rampant cuteness, there's a serious backstory behind it supported by fanbooks and doujins. It's not exactly the most conventional cosmic setting, since all of the characters are young-LOOKING girls (appearing to be of 10-18 year range even, leaning toward the younger side) wielding deity and sidereal-level abilities over the various aspects of the universe itself, either light-hearted or very deep depending on how it's portrayed. While nearly half of its doujins are cheap comedy, the other more serious half is what I'm interested in. There's a wiki in case you want to learn about it, although it doesn't detail much of the cosmic lore, and it's probably not your kind of series: http://pooshlmer.com/touhouwiki/index.php/Touhou_Wiki.

I saw the subject of 4th edition come up as I've skimmed through this long thread. From what I've seen of the Immortals Handbook, WotC really should get Upper Krust on the team that designs the 4th edition SRD epic rules :D

Or they should just scrap the whole 4.0 crap idea entirely and just go with Krusty's epic stuff and the current 3.5 stuff. I still stand by my earlier statement. WOTC is just milking D&D for all it's worth. 4.0 is not even D&D anymore. They've ruined it by 4.0 from what I've seen of it.

OD&D was ok...loved the concept.

AD&D was a bit better.

2nd Edition AD&D was even better.

3.0 was a bit disappointing but I liked their endless lack of actual limits. Which allowed for game evolution.

3.5 Was a lot better than 3.0. With the exception of the Nymphs and Kytons...both of which got completely screwed by 3.5. Nymphs no longer killed with their beauty and Kytons could only use a couple of chains as opposed to potentially hundreds of chains (all of which could easily be avoided with the right spell).

Why am I not surprised that you don't like 4th ed before you even know a thing about it, every scrap of information about 4th ed is scant teasers at best, noone has the right to judge the system until it has actually been released
