You misunderstand what I meant. The fact that a Heal check would provoke an AoO means that it requires a Concentration check to perform while he suffers continuous damage. Granted, it's an easy Concentration check and guaranteed success if has enough ranks in it. If he doesn't have ranks, however, it might not be so trivial.

Wow, that's an interesting rule that is going to be hard to remember. ugulu, take note. :)

Maod has no problem concentrating and healed a second time underwater. He has 95 hp left.

Maod's turn in round 214.

Maod decides this melee approach isn't working as consistently as he would like, and instead blasts Vlad with electricity breath.

Unless he's really lucky and this drops Vlad, he'll then leap into the air, splash down into the water, and disappear again (to 105n40e-20z). If by some miracle Vlad does drop, he'll just take a step back to the water line (105n40e0z).

OOC: On the Heal checks - guys, I feel that since I forgot to make the checks as part of my move, Maod shouldn't get the healing benefit. I don't like the retroactive thing when it was an entirely voluntary thing - if had been an automatic thing I had forgotten to announce, that'd be different, but I'd feel better if you move Maod back to the unhealed state of bleeding and hp.

OK Greybar, no problem. Maod has 68 hp when he starts round 214.

I also forgot that the discombobulation caused a -4 penalty on Maod's last save, but he still made it.

Round 214: Vlad does not dodge the lightning (19 Ref save) and takes 65-10. Vlad drops.

The discombobulation goes away. The water level drops another 3 inches to around 14 inches.

Maod:[sblock]You can breathe again in round 217.[/sblock]

Next for NE in round 214: an ultroloth. (MM III)

Maod is at 105N40E (still on the victory zone floor, not in the water) with 68 hp.

A medium humanoid with a long face, bulbous eyes, and an evil alien appearance, appears at 80N80E, and blasts Maod with three bolts of fire. Gansk[sblock]If Maod is still alive, blast him with three more bolts of fire. Also, if Maod is still alive after that, please let me know what 51 knows about Maod. If 51 knows that Maod has resistance or immunity to fire, use enervation instead.[/sblock]

The rays all hit and have an effect. (29 CL check) In fact, one of the rays hits Maod in the franistan.

Maod takes a total of 50 points of fire damage and has 18 hp left.

51 is not satisfied and fires another three rays in the blink of an eye.

They all hit and have an effect (27 CL check). Maod get blasted for another 42 and dies.

The water level drops another 3 inches to around 11 inches.

Next for NG in round 214: an old battle dragon. (Draconomicon)

Old Battle Dragon stats:[sblock]29 ranks in Knowledge (History, Nobility, Local, Geography, Nature), Listen, Search, Spot & Use Magic Device. Feats are Hover, Improved Initiative, Wingover, Weapon Focus (bite), Snatch, Lightning Reflexes, Improved Toughness, Empower Spell-like Ability (aid), & Rapidstrike (claw).[/sblock]

51:[sblock]You know that battle dragons have a sonic breath weapon and a cone of fear gas, and dragons this size can inspire courage in themselves and allies, identically to bardic music.[/sblock]

OOC: Okay, where's the Rapidstrike feat from? Is it like the pattern would imply where you can take two attacks, each at -2?

Oh, and does the dragon know anything about his opponent?

It's similar to Improved TWF actually. It applies to a natural weapon attack of which you have two (like claws and wings on a dragon). You get an additional attack with that weapon at -5. So, you get 3 claw or wing attacks.

Does he have knowledge (arcana)? :)

Sadly no, so it's probably going to be a raw Int check, though I don't know what methodology has been used so far to be honest.

You didn't study the right subjects, so you have no knowledge of your opponent. You did witness him kill your buddy with six fiery rays.

Rapidstrike is from the Draconomicon if you want to look it up.
