No Conan 3.

Hmmm, with Arnie governor as California Conan 3 seems to be a fading possibility.

The question is: Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I know than many, many people liked it a great deal, but I couldn't stand either of the first two. (I was too familiar with the books, and while Arnold Schwarzenegger was just fine as Conan, well, the scripts just weren't good at all.)

So all in all, I am afraid I consider this a good thing, though I suppose there may be other actors that could be pulled in.

The Auld Grump, who thinks that most fantasy movies are pretty darned bad... But watches them anyway.

I'd love to see a complete reinvention of the Conan franchise, starting over with new stories as though the previous movies never happened. I mean, I'd love to have seen King Conan, but with Arnie as... Jeez, I can't even say it. With Arnie otherwise occupied, that's not likely.

Not sure who I'd cast in the role. I actually like Duane "The Rock" Johnson (dodges fruit), but I don't think he's right for the part. (His voice and speech patterns sound too modern.) Maybe a newcomer? Worked for Arnie himself.

It's going to kill off a lot of upcoming movies he was talking about making, I doubt they will do a Conan 3 now but you never know, they are talking about a Terminator 4 without him in it and Predator 3 without him (but bringing back his character), so you never know what crazyness they will cook up in Hollywood.

I'll be honest - Arnold does NOT need to be in another Terminator movie. If they do a 4th one, they can use CGI to replicate the CSM101's with skin - because I feel that yet another movie with an "emotional" terminator is just warping the concept too much. Better for any future story to focus on John and Kate, and their struggles in putting together the human resistance, or something to that effect. The story was about the machine before - it needs to be about the man now.

Given his more recent movies (post True Lies), I'm not going to be missing Arnie on the big screen. Plus he was supposedly being attached to SO many upcoming movies, that some of those were going to fall by the wayside anyways, and I'd imagine Conan would've been one of them.

Well, the Conan comics are being redone and should be out soon (if the first one isn't out already). So, this could help bring Conan back.

I think Conan 3 would work without Arnold.

Conan 1 was very good. It worked very well.

Conan 2 and Red Sonja were mediocre, primarily because of bad plots and minimal acting. The end of Conan 2 where Conan turns down the kingdom was especially bad. The real Conan would never have turned down a kingdom.

For the Terminator series, I think making a film without Arnold would be less successful. Arnold does some of his best work in the Terminator series. I thought T-3 was by far and away the best of the series. Although I agree, that when they do T-4, Arnold has to go back to being a bad guy. In fact, there should be lots of Arnold bots (kind of like the Matrix).

I think Predator-3 should have some other actor, just like Predator 2. And it should not have the same character that Arnold previously played.

I thought his "6th Day" was surprisingly good. I really wasn't expecting much from it, and when the opening scenes of it featured an XFL game (a futuristic version), I thought "Oh no". But it was quite enjoyable.

I don't know the Robert Howard character of Conan, but in the context of the movie, I believe his refusal of the kingdom worked fine.

They had established that he was prophecied to become a king "By his own Hand."
If he had ruled by her side (in a queen-led kingdom, IIRC), he would have just been a boy-toy, basically.

I don't see the movie Conan accepting that, and he didn't.
Conan 2 is MUCH better than people remember, IMO.
