No small weapons - I'm okay with this

I highly doubt there will be a spell that boosts the recipient a size catagory.
I wouldn't be surprised to see one, but I bet it won't tie in to generic sizing rules. The fluff might be that your size doubles, but the actual benefits would be something static, like: +3 damage on weapon attacks, -1 AC, -1 Ref, reach increases by one square.

This.

Small: This property describes a two-handed or a versatile weapon that a Small character can use in the same way a Medium character can. A halfling can use a shortbow, for example, even though halflings can’t normally use two-handed weapons.

Is it just me or does it imply that small characters can use any one handed weapon just fine? Without modification?

Now if the small property can be applied to things that aren't normally small (like a longbow, for example) we will be in business. But even then, I will happily wave goodbye to making halflings carry small daggers and small longswords and small shortswords, etc.

From what i read in the article about weapons i think it works like this:

2 handed weapons :
can't be used by halflings exept when they have the small discriptor, in which case they funcion for a halfling exacly like they woeld for a medium crature.
( so a 2 handed weapon with the small discriptor does the same amount of damage for a human as for a halfling wielding it)

Versatile:
A Small character such as a halfling must use a versatile weapon two-handed and doesn’t deal extra damage. exept when it has the small discriptor in whick case it functions for aq halfling exacly like it woeld for a medium crature.

Off-Hand:
these can be wielded one handed by halflings, halflings can only use off-hand weapons with the small discriptor in their of hand which then function exactly as they woeld for a medium character

this leads to:
there might be no rech weapons for halflings, as most reach weapons are 2 handed.
Only exption might be 2 handed reaqch weapon with the small discriptor

A longsword is a versitile weapon that does does 1d8 damage ( assumption ) for a medium creature using in one handed, 1d8+1 for a medium crature wielding it in both hands, and 1d8 for a halfling wieldling it in both hands

Dual wieling :
a human coeld use a longsword (versitile weapon) as main hand, and short sword as off hand damage 1d8 longsword 1d6 shortsword.

A halfling coeld use a sortsword as main hand, and a dagger ( a off hand wepon with the small discriptor as off hand) damage 1d6 shortsword 1d4 dagger

Posibly halflings wil get a +1 damage bonus when wielding a off hand weapon 2 handed like medium races do when wielding a versitile weapon 2 handed

so for a halfling in short :
no 2 handed weapons
versitile weapons function like 2 handed weapons
off hand weapons function like versitile weapons
and they can only wield off hand weapons with the small discriptor in their off hand.

According to the article, "small" only applies to two-handed and versatile weapons, not off-hand weapons. If a short sword is off-hand for a medium-sized character, it's off-hand for a small-sized one.

indeed i mis read that:
here uner are what that eans to my earlyer post

Off-Hand:
these can be used in of hand by any character

I'm very happy about the new rule (as far as we know it), since the Treasure in 3.5 was always difficult to handle ... as soon as you have a small character in the group you always have to think about handling the Treasure in a fair way instead of just putting some magical Weapons (and Armor) into the stack.

Also D&D Online (the MMO) never implemented different Weapon sizes, so a Halfling could use any weapon (and the same damage) as the humans with no penalty. But nobody cared about that and halfling are still a very rarely played race, so it cannot be that unbalanced and on the other hand simplified the weapon rules quite a bit.

I do believe the default assumption was a player usually sold off whatever they found and then bought what they wanted, so medium or small gear mattered far less unless the DM reduced magic item commerce.
