Obscure cartoons you forgot you liked

I think someone has mentioned Pandemonium, but I'll mention it again. Very fun show, and my first introduction as a little kid to the "build the artifact" plotline of stories...

And I have a friend who goes around quoting Jem and the Holograms all the time - makes me want to smack him. :)

Think about the general plotline - it had an express value system that pretty girls had the rich, loving fathers, got all the cool toys AND the good-looking guys, and ugly girls who didn't conform were smacked down and lost all the time. Now THERE was a cartoon for you... :D

The original Jonny Quest cartoons, I still love those.

Herculoids, man how stupid did you have to be to try and take on the Herculoids, they crushed everybody in fifteen minutes or less. They were shown with another show (Teen force? or something like that) with teenagers on space motorcycles that fought Uglor. It was a Space Ghost spin off.

I remember Starblazers and Speed Racer being on before I got off the bus so I only got to watch them in the summer. They were the greatest things I had ever seen at the time.

(Edit: "The newest stars in the Space Stars lineup were Teen Force, a junior space defense team consisting of Kid Comet, Moleculad, and Elektra. The teen trio would regularly face off against arch-nemesis Uglor the Terrible and other villains.")

Okay, this dates me and all others who remember seeing them the first time they aired in the 60's...

-Herculoids: Who can really forgot Tantro, Zok, Zandor, Tara, Gloop, Gleep, Dorno and Igoo?

-Space Ghost: Long before he got a talk show

-Johnny Quest: Race is still cool

Moving up to the 70's, we have Filmation ruling the roost...

-Flash Gordon (Saturday morning fun)

-Blackstar (This one was way too cool.)

-Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle (anyone realize the the same guy doing the voice for Flash Gordon also did Tarzan's?)

-Star Trek (Featuring the original series cast members doing the voices.)

Of course, Voltron was great. Personally, I preferred the lion episodes...

Jason and the Argonaughts had Jimmy Doohan (Scotty) from Trek.
Race Bannon the best bodyguard around.

Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle (anyone realize the the same guy doing the voice for Flash Gordon also did Tarzan's?)
I think he also did Race and a bunch of the other characters as well. Man that was a cool cartoon.
Why don't they play cartoons now ?

Darius

P.S. Yeah thanks for the lost saucer I thought that was Ruth Buzzie on there...whew what a combination. Remember also that Giligan from giligans island did a space version for Sid and Marty Croft. hehehe memory lane....

Visionaries - I had forgotten that show until someone mentioned it in the other thread about fantasy-based cartoons.

(regarding Cities of Gold)

Egads!, I had forgot about that show, did it actually ever end? I don't remember because I only caught occaisonal episodes at my grandma's house.

As I recall, it had a really kick-butt finale. Those weirdo Olmec guys were attacking in their flying fortress thingy, and the City's high priest (who it turned out was Estaban's father, I think) had to sacrfice his life to shut down this nuclear reactor thingamajig before it went china syndrome. And the City of Gold is destroyed. Man that was an awesome show. Remember that Golden Condor they flew around in? I want to watch that show so badly now.

You wanna hear something funny?

Dungeons and Dragons never set my parents off, not once. They understood what was in it, and never got upset.

My mother COULDN'T STAND Thundarr the Barbarian. To her, all it taught were the use of violence and black magics to solve problems.

She still let me watch it anyway, God bless her.
