D&D 5E One Shot: Legends are Made, not Born (IC)

Snorri follows Milady, and peers past her into the tunnel. The dwarf curiously feels a need to protect his attractive female companion, which he immediately recognizes as unneccessary - did she not just save him from the third fire beetle? Nevertheless, Snorri tries to keep in front of Milady, holding up his shield defensively while moving into the tunnel.

"The stone here is unworked," he whispers, "Which means it is not part of the original dwarven structure. Could be the ogre's lair."

Milady kept her hand on Snorri’s shoulder since she couldn’t see in the dark, moving slowly and carefully. “As good a guess as any I have,” she told the dwarf quietly. “But let’s check the other tunnel, just in case. It wouldn’t do to have something come up behind us.”

Not trusting himself to speak with Milady so close to him, Snorri merely nods. Keeping his shield up, he moves back carefully, passing the dead bugs, and starts down the other tunnel.

The eastern tunnel is short and leads to another natural cavern, but this one is not empty. It is extremely dark and Milady waits, crossbow in hand, as the dwarf moves into the darkness. He comes back a moment later to report what he has seen.

OOC: Read Out Loud:
This chamber is about 25 feet in diameter but extends another 15 feet to the south. Located in this southern spur of the room is a ledge about 8 feet high. The chamber is damp and musty with a thick acrid smell. The floor of the entire chamber is covered with toadstools each a few inches tall.

A tunnel continues south from the room, which can be accessed after a short climb to the top of the ledge.

OOC: So choices now are:
- Dwarven Door
- Long southern tunnel (w/slight incline)
- Tunnel atop mushroom room's ledge
- or could go outside and through the front door
(watch out for that skunk though)

"Do not move!" Badger whispers loudly. "The toadstools may be delicious! Or deadly, I can never remember which."

He moves close to, but does not touch, a toadstool to see if he recognizes them.

OOC: Um...some kind of Int check? I'm proficient in Arcana and Medicine. So [roll0]

OOC: Would be Nature, so taking that roll [4] and adding your Nature skill to it.

Badger's vast knowledge of things and stuff stops short of the natural realm of fungus and fungi, but he hopes one day to rectify that oversight. Just today though he doesn't know what type of mushroom the room contains.

“What is it?” Milady asked, but then Badger arrived with the light and she saw the toadstools. “Hmmm…” She crouched down to examine them, though not getting too close, and also to see if there were any tracks in the room. She couldn’t seem to place the mushrooms or find any tracks, though.

OOC: This whole backdoor area seems undisturbed to the group. Any ogre coming through would have broke down the dwarven door, and trampled the toadstool patch, but both are untouched.

Oh, and now that there is light, the toadstools are an orche color. About 2-3 inches tall.
