D&D 5E [OOC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

So would you like Bert to leap through your space and tackle her? Sounds like something he'd do.

Whether she would leave Turvy or not depends on how much of her mind is there. Right now she can't remember her innate spell casting...does she remember her brother? Or just her need to feed and survive?

I tend to let dice decide these things...so I don't know the answer. Once you bloody her we'll find out.

If Bert interprets me that way, go for it! It makes him more of a living, breathing character. My intent was that if someone wanted to vault over Topsy, they could step on my shoulders to leap over her. (Hence, why I crouched.) But I figured that Surana or Erevan couldn't really do that unless Bert moved. :p

Just to clarify the rules on movement. These are off the top of my head but I think they are accurate.

You can always move through an ally's space. With the following caveats:
-You can't end your turn in an ally's space.
-If the ally is within one size category of you you will be considered to be squeezing while you are in that ally's space. So attacks on you have adv and you have disadv on attacks and dex saves and the occupied space is considered difficult terrain.

So this means people can move up in Ezraen's space attack w disadvantage and then back up (and provoke an OA that has adv) but she only has one reaction....for the record, I use this tactic with monsters a lot. Use one to provoke your reaction then follow on with others.

Bertram's nimble trait negates most of that...except he still can't end his turn there.

At least that is my understanding of the rules.

Can someone vault themselves over you and Topsy? Yes...that is where our cinematic rule applies. Acrobatics vs athletics/acrobatics. Success means you make it. Falure means you fail and provoke an OA. Failure by 5 or more means you fall prone and provoke an OA. Sound good?

Ok, this is a House Rule, right? Just clarifying, because normally, AoOs are only if basically running away. My understanding in 5e is that you may circle enemies as long as you are not moving in such a way that you will leave an enemy's attack range. Unless I am mistaken, which definitely was with the darkvision. I just want to be clear for my personal understanding of the rules. :)

Acrobatics vs athletics/acrobatics.

Are you saying we (the PCs) can choose to use Athletics for this roll? Or she can?

Either way, I'm still going to wait to see if Bert manages to knock her prone (which I imagine would make the Acrobatics roll a little harder for her?).

Not a house rule so much as an adjudication of what happens if you attempt to jump over a foe and fail.

OAs normally only occur when you step away from a foe (not necessarily running away...)

Somtimes taking one extra attack from an enemy is worth making room for allies to get attacks of their own.

She will choose acrobatics or atletics. If you want to simply run through her space I think there are already rules for that.

That's fine about waiting for Bertram. It won't be until tonight when I can take time to look at the rules more closely.

I changed my mind and I'm just going to try to grapple Topsy. Screw OAs and taking turns; they can pummel her while we wrassle.

Just want to confirm before rolling: Do I get the bless bonus on the grapple roll? Bless says you get the bonus on "an attack roll"; grapple paragraph says "You can use the Attack action to make a special melee attack, a grapple."
