Kamael cautiously moves up to the end of the rope bridge, eyeing the door to the stalactite.

"Solace, if the enemy breaks out then fall back behind me, taking the crossbow if you want it. I'll try and block the path with a spell, ok. The others will be a while, I fear."

End of Round 9

Kamael moved up a little and offered Solace the loaded hand crossbow he'd acquired from the armory. He kept create bonfire at the ready. The fight out on the platform between the quaggi and the whoever else may have been involved quieted. Both Solace and Kamael could hear several of the quaggi moving about; one they could see on the platform, trying to break into a cell, another was on the far rope bridge at the southern end of the outpost, and a third Solace spied through an open door inside one of the far stalactites. No drow seemed anywhere about.

"I'm not well," says Solace to Kamael. "I'm afraid to let her out." Her hand still on the handle, she slumps with her back against the ropes of the budge she is on. "Do you have a sense of which direction we ought to head? Do we follow that mass of arms and claws? I think I saw a route in the other direction, too. To tell you the truth, I just don't know where we should go."

The lock juggles, but Solace remains attentive enough to keep the door shut.

OOC: I guess I'm improvising an action: to use the lock picks to continue to jam the lock. I think that with a normal action this would normally give disadvantage to any attempt to open the door; additionally, i'm using a tool proficiency, which might additionally take away 2 (maybe 4 with dexterity?) from a disadvantaged roll? In any case, I am hoping that that is enough to keep the door shut.

If there is time to go to T23 and back and fetch a hand crossbow, she will do so, but I think the priority is keeping the door closed.


"I saw Topsy and Turvy fall... then I just heard a voice. Did you hear it? Was it Turvy?" Solace is desperate, and she sees no target she can reasonably attack.
 

Solace nipped forward and grabbed the loaded hand crossbow handed to her by Kamael, then quickly returned to the door to press her weight against it. Asha hadn't re-tried the door yet, but it was only a matter of time.


OOC: Disadvantage to Asha on the Str DC 15 check is reasonable while the lock picks are jammed in the lock, sure. Asha has a +0 modifier to Str, but has guidance (though it's an action to cast that spell, which competes against her having to take an action to try the Str check). Brinn's up, [MENTION=6799753]lowkey13[/MENTION]. Map of the quaggi is updated to reflect their turn this round on the assumption that Brinn will continue helping don armor.
