D&D 5E Out of the Abyss IC

OK, so Kamael moves back to Q26, and addresses everyone, "if we all try and fit in there, it's going to be a really tight fit, and not in the good way! Anyone got any ideas for a plan of attack?"

Kago wrapped his fingers around the familiar grip of his war hammer and descended the ladder. He thought enough to wait for Raza, but the thought of offering her a helping hand never occurred to him. Finally, he made his way out of the stalactite once more and across the rope bridge where he sees the human female leaning against a door with one of the quaggoths close at hand.

"Make yourself useful, peacemaker."

Kago snarled at the memory and B-lined for Solace, completely ignoring the monstrosity next to her. He snatches her hair --and maybe a little skin-- at the side of her head and pulls her face close to his, whispering:

[sblock=Orcish]"And tell me, human, what use are you when you're dead? You'll do well to consider your words before hurling insults at Kago!"[/sblock]

As Kago's hot, vile breath hisses over Solace's face, she can feel her many wounds closing up a bit.

OOC: Move somewhere next to Solace.
Cast Cure Wounds on Solace: 1D8+2 = [7]+2 = 9

[sblock=OOC for CB and Kobold Stew]Forgive me if I overstepped the narrative there. Just trying to convey that Kago has had his fill of being trifled with. If I need to rewrite for whatever reason, let me know.[/sblock]

Raza didn’t say a word when Kago reached over and finished tightening the straps on her armor. She did notice how large and powerful his hands were: warrior’s hands. Useful if it came to battle, and she was sure that it would sooner rather than later.

When Kago moved off she followed. She expected no special consideration and received none, and that, strangely, pleased her. She had to hurry to keep up with his longer stride and snatched her scimitar from its sheath as she went. As he moved past the quaggoth, Raza stopped, still on the rope bridge, and summoned a ball of fire in her hand to help light her path.

Round 1

Kamael finished helping the quaggoth raise the basket from the chasm floor. The basket was made of woven reeds, with sides that reached high-waist on a medium-sized creature, and seemed sturdy enough. The winch was massive. It had to be, to accommodate 110' feet of heavy steel chain links. After he was done helping with the basket, Kamael moved to a more central location and addressed the party. He additionally steeled himself to cast acid splash at the first foe to appear. Meanwhile, Raza completed donning her armor and shuffled down the rope ladder, through the stalactite, and onto the rope bridge, coming to rest part-way down the rope bridge.

OOC: Raza could have moved to U20 after donning her armor, GlassEye...did you also want to have her do more stuff for her turn on Round 1? Brinn's up, lowkey13. Brinn has five rounds' worth of action he's been doing while the basket was being raised, so please say what (if anything) you want him to have done during those rounds. In addition to those five rounds' worth of activity, Brinn will also have his actions and movement for Round 1. I'll take your declaration for all of that now, please.

It took the quaggoth and Kamael three of those five rounds to raise the basket to the platform (the basket is empty). If the group wanted (this is NOT a suggestion, just a bit of clarification), you could spend a round loading the basket with characters, then start sending it down (if someone helped the quaggoth lower the basket, you'd have advantage for one round of lowering the basket toward the chasm floor (it takes four rounds to fully raise or fully lower the basket)). Also, I screwed up my first post for Round 1 and said Kago is up first. He isn't. Kago acts on init 4. Instead, Kamael is up first. Kago is lower in the initiative order (great post, industrygothica!), so we'll revisit Kago's action on his turn this round. Because he spent time donning armor, Kago will have had one full round's worth of action plus his actions for Round 1, so I'm betting a good chunk of what you describe will still be relevant. I apologize for creating confusion, the error is mine.

Round 1

Stool, Jimjar, and Brinn loaded into the basket. There was room in the basket for two more. Over by Solace, the quaggoth jumped when a loud thump burst from the grey door held shut by Solace. The door handle wiggled, prompting the lock picks to shimmy. Solace shoved them back inside the lock. The door reverberated with two more angry thumps, then fell silent. The door held. For now. The quaggoth beside Solace on the rope bridge growled and started to shove her to the side; it wanted inside the stalactite.

OOC: ALL: Stool and Jimjar are size small. The two of them together take up the space in the basket that one medium creature would occupy. The basket holds four medium-sized creatures and currently bears the equivalent of two medium-sized creatures. Two additional medium-sized individuals may therefore get in the basket. Yellow Quaggoth is feisty. Make either a Persuasion or Intimidate check (your choice), lowkey13, to convince Yellow Quaggoth to help (I'll fold the result in on a subsequent turn this round). Add a +2 circumstance bonus for having been part of the Great Prisoner Escape. Plain quaggoth is attempting to move Asha to get at the door to the stalactite, Kobold Stew. Solace's turn!
[sblock=Asha's rolls]Asha did the first casting of guidance prior to our break in initiative. She's failed to break through the door as of her turn on Round 1:

Kago's assault on Solace was terrifying, but not moreso than the fear she had of the drow on the other side of the door. In fact, in a weird way, the halforc seemed to energize her, helped her find a strength she did not know that she had. The words he disgorged onto her with a foul-smelling breath were attacks, and yet she felt he could now be trusted. She averted her eyes, a sign of submission to these beasts, and he ran off to terrorize others.

With a new strength, the sight of the massive quaggoth did not cause her to tremble in the least. She stood, withdrew the lock picks and quickly pocketed them, and made her way past the beast, whose attentions were focused more on the door than on her.

Slipping by she positioned herself on the bridge, ready to attack with the crossbow if the doors should open.

OOC: Thanks for the healing!
Solace moves to T22 (still within sight of the door), passing the quaggoth (assuming it reacts as an ally), abandoning her guarding of the door. Ready and action to attack.

OOC: Kago's up now for Round 1, industrygothica. I can't get to a map update right now, but I'll do so (late) this evening. Based on what KS has provided above, I think we can safely say Kago has already made his way out of the armory and onto the rope bridge, where he cast cure wounds[/] on Solace. This leaves you to declare Kago's action/s and movement for Round 1.
