Raza moved away to stand in the spot formerly occupied by Shuushar, who'd joined Turvey. She noticed the glass orb, untouched, amidst the ashes of her burnt bundle of rags.

OOC: Thanks for keeping your hp tally up to date, GE. Kobold Stew is, indeed, up to bat.

Solace lunges again at the amphibian before her, hoping to draw blood. The long shadows of the creatures before her let her know that her light still shines below.

OOC:
(to hit) [roll0]. If successful, damage = [roll1], plus [roll2].
(free action) Disengage from KT5 (no opp. attacks from KT1 -- fancy footwork)
(move) to M8 (above the creature at L7, though I believe I will not be within melee range because of the hight difference. If that's not so, then move only to M9 please.

Kamael gritted his teeth against the pain of the kuo-toa bite, and knew that he could not take another hit like that. . but he also knew he could not simply abandon the others to be caught in a flanking manoeuvre.

He feigned a step to his right, fooling the monitor long enough for him to fall back, turn, and then run into the darkness. If the creature caught him with a ranged attack then he had misjudged, but he hoped the darkness in this cave would affect its aim, and that the creature would temporarily hesitate as it decided between leaving its troops and pursuing a dangerous spellcaster.

OOC:
Action : Disengage
Move: As far as possible! Run away!! In a tactical and considered manner, of course :-P

Round 4

Solace speared Kuo-toa 1, hitting a vital organ. She felt the tip of her rapier strike meat and knew she'd hit true. Leaning her weight into her blade, she twisted the rapier, getting maximum effect out of the hit. Sure enough, Kuo-toa 1 dropped in a heap at the top of the stairs, it's webbed hands twitching in death throes. When she danced away from the slain beast, she spied Kamael fleeing deeper into the cavern, away from the monitor.

OOC: It's nearly 1 am and I'm wiped. I'm posting the updated map so folks can see positions, but the post from me for the enemies will have to wait until Thursday evening. Have court hearings tomorrow.

The kuo-toa monitor barked an odd coughing sort of challenge at Kamael's retreating form, then turned and briskly stepped forward and had a go at the unsuspecting Turvey. Solace was too high up on the elevated ledge to get in an attack as the monitor left her reach. The monitor kicked Turvey--eliciting a surprised squeak of pain from the small deep gnome--hitting, and dealing 4 points of bludgeoning damage and 6 points of lightning damage. The monitor punched again, but luckily Turvey was very woozy from the first blow and wobbled, causing the monitor to miss. The monitor wasted no time, lunging forward to bite at Turvey, but that attack also missed.

Kuo-toas 3 and 6 darted to the west and trekked quickly up the rear steps to board the ledge. The pair of them quickly moved into flanking positions near Solace, hemming her in. Kuo-toa 2 tried to bite Kago, but caught only a link of chain mail for its effort and missed. Kuo-toa 4, however, snaked forward while the orc was distracted and bit Kago, dealing 5 points of damage.

Kuo-toa 7 fled into the dark.

The light of horror grew in Shuushar's eyes as poor Turvey took a beating. Frowning in displeasure, Shuushar stepped forward and punched the monitor. Solace heard him growl in Undercommon, "Leave him be, he's hurt no one!" Shuushar struck the monitor with a balled fist, dealing 5 points of bludgeoning damage and 3 points of lightning damage. The monitor could do nothing but flick stunned eyes in surprise to its pot-bellied kin.

Jimjar led Stool over to huddle by Kamael. The deep gnome had a knife in his hand, Kamael saw, and looked ready to use it if need be. Stool, however, stood nearby and did nothing but visibly quivery. Waves of petrification washed over Kamael, and he understood Stool to be enormously worried for Brinn.

OOC: I don't think Kago's spiritual weapon gets an opportunity attack? If I'm wrong, pipe up. Kago's turn, [MENTION=23298]industrygothica[/MENTION]!

Kago continues to defile the kuo-toa's face with his warhammer, aiming specifically for its vile teeth that had somehow found their way under Kago's armor.

With the other cowardly fish people running away from him in favor of less threatening foes, the Warpriest summons his spectral spear to bother the second kuo-toa.

Kago seems to relish the dance as his own blood mixes with the kuo-toan in a pool at his feet. Gruumsh will be pleased.

Kago bashed Kuo-toa 4 with his warhammer, dealing 5 points of bludgeoning damage. The creature bleated in pain as the blow struck its ribs. The Spear of Gruumsh, ever faithful, heeded Kago's need and flashed at Kuo-toa 2, impaling the slimy-skinned beast through the torso. The tip of the spear, glowing with Gruumsh's wrath, poked through the kuo-toa's front, then quickly yanked its way free out the back, dealing 11 points of damage. Vermillion-hued blood seeped from the ragged wound on the kuo-toa's torso. Both creatures snaked backward a hair as Kago struck them, uncertainty growing in their eyes.

Raza Thulcandra

Raza peered out from the fold in the wall where she had taken a moment to recover herself. Her eyes, magically enhanced to see in the dark, scanned the field, such as she could see of it, to see where best she could apply her skills. Perhaps, her greatest contribution would be in aiding Kago get free of those attacking him so he could aid the others with more force than she could bring to bear.

Raza dashed forward, drawing the curved blade of the scimitar she possessed and slashing at the kuo-toan soldier within her reach. Satisfaction surged within her as the blade cut deep.
