[Pathfinder] Scotley's Kingmaker IC continued.

[Scotley]

Kyria moves up the passage. A deep and ominous chasm splits the passage. The chasm is a few yards wide, and twice as deep, but thick ropes of tangled roots fill the entire area. The passage continues on the far side of the chasm, and between the two ledges, numerous loops have been tied into the roots to serve as hand- and footholds. Across the way she can see into another chamber. The walls of this egg-shaped cavern are obscured by thick tangles of long, pallid roots. To the east (the side closest to Kyria), the chamber opens into a wide, root-filled chasm. Four Kobolds are tied to the roots protruding from the wall. Three hang motionless while one moves feebly and calls out for help. All have fresh wounds and blood drips suggesting the retreating Mites paused to dispatch their captives as they retreated. There is no sign of the Mites now.

 

[Kaodi]

Pixie scrutinizes the room on the other side of the chasm for a moment. "I am going to go check that other tunnel. I betcha there is another way to get over there. I mean, those nasty little beasts couldn't have climbed over this every time they wanted to switch rooms, right? Especially dragging those other pests..." The guide hesitantly takes a few steps back and turns to leave, pausing just a moment in case anyone has something to add.

 

[Scott DeWar]

"Use great caution."

 

[Deuce Traveler]

Rhote simply shrugs as he looks down the chasm.

 

[SelcSilverhand]

"Retrieving that kobold and the statue may go a ways to securing their trust. Do you think these roots could hold our weight? Or at least a solid rope to give us something to cling to. That is, if we had a rope." He looks around expectantly knowing that he hadn't bothered packing a rope.

 

[Kaodi]

"No rope here," says Pixie as she grabs the loot bag and heads back the way the party came.

 

[Scott DeWar]

Brond looks in his belongings . . . . ."No, sorry. Not here."

 

[Shayuri]

Kyria frowns a little as she looks down the chasm, then across. She tries to gauge the distance...knowing she's a far better jumper than climber...

(OOC - How far is it across? 'A few' can mean a lot of things. Kyria has +8 Acrobatics...might have a chance of jumping the gap.)

 

[Scotley]

Kyria estimates that if she is careful to make the leap at the narrowest point it is roughly 18'. The hanging tangles of roots could get in the way making the leap difficult (-2 circumstances penalty). The Mites obviously crossed using the roots, but they are much lighter that you all.

Pixie backtracks up the slippery tunnels hampered somewhat by the bundle.

[sblock=Pixie]You find that the other tunnel does indeed lead back down into the room where the Kobold is trapped. You see no sign of the retreating Mites.[/sblock]

Pixie climbs down and waves to the rest of the party across the chasm. The guide approaches the kobold and grunts, "Try anything sneaky on me and you'll regret it - briefly," before cutting the roots clutching him to the wall of the room/tunnel. She picks him up and slings him over her shoulder abruptly though not overly roughly, then moves to climb back out and head towards the others.
