Phase 5 of the MCU is over

Ironheart was the last bit of media in phase 5 - what did people think? They had to make a major adjustment because of the drama surrounding certain actors, and it certainly showed.

Personally, I think it was a definite mixed bag, but in all honesty, most were mid- not as good as some said, and not as bad as others said.

Personally, I can say that I hated Secret Invasion and Quantummania, and liked to varying degrees the rest. There were none that I unconditionally loved even despite flaws - other than the fact that I was entertained and glad that they came to the screen. And that lack of love for any outing is what sets this apart.

The closest I came to loving any of them were: GotG3, Loki, What If, D&W, Agatha All Along, DD, Thunderbolts, Ironheart.

I loved the ideas of BNW, but it died somewhere on the cutting room floor.

And my take on Kang- even without the issues surrounding the actor, I just think that the multiverse saga would have been ill-executed no matter what. We can see this from Quantumania, so it might have been a blessing in disguise.

Overall it was pretty bad. Good was guardians daredevil and Deadpool. The rest is very forgettable or even unwatchable. They deserved to lose money as the effort stunk. I can’t imagine how streaming goes forward and we are going to get less due poor mistakes

Daredevil was good and I have hope for Thunderbolts, given the reviews.

Captain America, Quantumania and Invasion were bad.

The rest were varying degrees of mid.

Their weakest phase thus far, by a considerable margin.

I've only seen six of those and Guardians of the Galaxy is the only one I haven't seen that I still want to watch.

Quantumania: Didn't care for.
Secret Invasion: Flat out disliked.
Deadpool and Wolverine: Meh. I was tired of the multiverse before I even saw it.
Agatha All Along: Probably one of the brighter spots, though the ending felt anti-climatic.
Captain America: It was okay.
Daredevil: I enjoyed this one. Ending wasn't very satisfying though.

I'm a bit burned out on Marvel.

I think it was OK. I tend to think that Quantumania and Captain America were meh, while Secret Invasion was actively bad. It was sort of inevitable that it would be a step down from Phase 3, given that ended with saving half the universe. There's really only place to go, from there, and that sucks for introducing new characters.

I've seen all of these save Thunderbolts (which I've heard good things about and will get to shortly), but the ones I really enjoyed were Daredevil and especially Deadpool (honorable mention to Loki 2 and GotG 3). I'm a hardcore Narvel fan and love obscure references and in-jokes, but most of these didn't particularly resonate with me.

Since we're opening Phase 6 with the FF (my favorite Marvel property), however, I have strong hopes for the future.

hmmm 5/14 is 35% of products which were good - Daredevil, Loki, Agatha, Guardians, Ironheart

2/14 were horrible though - Secret Invasion and Quantum mania

so 50% mediocre. I enjoyed the Marvels and didn't mind Captain America even if the antagonist were underdeveloped (and a bit stupid) so they could make their political statement instead.

I'm still an MCU fan but didnt bother watching the third series of What If and the shine has come off the brand.

Its going to be a challenge to see if Phase 6 will satisfactorily close the Multiverse saga and stave off the much touted Superhero fatigue, especially as they bring out the big guns of Fantastic Four and Dr Doom - and then set the stage for a Phase 7 X-Men revival

I liked Daredevil, Loki (I admit the aesthetics play a big part in this), and Deadpool and Wolverine.

I liked the Marvels more than I expected I would.

Guardians was ok, What If 2-3 were ok too, but not to the level of Season 1.

I didn't particularly like Echo and Agatha, but I also don't particularly remember them.

I had high hopes for Secret Invasion, and it felt like a real let down.

I agree with the sentiment that this is the weakest phase yet, even though to me it's not much worse than Phase 4. Haven't seen Captain America, Thunderbolts, and Ironheart yet, but I won't be watching them anytime soon, so my opinion on Phase 5 won't change in the short term.

What is really striking to me is the lack of a single great film (again, barring Thunderbolts; maybe it will save the day). Phases 1-3 didn't any films that I tought were outright bad and a number that were great. Hopefully Fantastic Four is the revitalization it needed.

However, I don't love that it is yet another multiverse crossover. Just drop the multiverse angle, already! It's bad for narrative tension - it turns every film into an episode of What If...? Give it to Spiderverse and leave it at that.

I would be really excited if FF represented a whole new start for the MCU, rather than being shoehorned into the teetering edifice that peaked with Endgame.

We pulled the plug on Disney+ months ago. That says it all.

Agatha was fun. We loved the Netflix Daredevil, Luke Cage, Punisher and Jessica Jones run. Don't feel the need to watch the DD reboot. For Thunderbolt we will wait for rental.

I'm cautiously optimistic about FF.
