The D&D movie is currently filming at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland. A number of onlookers have posted photos from the set on Twitter, as has Newcastle's The Chronicle. Zhentarim would be my guess. Yeah, I had the same reaction... but I am going to judge the movie on the finished product. Post-production and SFX can add a lot to a movie nowadays.

My guess is they're a Thayan citizen or agent of some sort (if not a red wizard themselves). They certainly have the bald head tattoo gimmick going for them.

They might be both. I remember mention of someone being a secret agent of Thay within the plot, though I do imagine it'd be hard to hide one's allegiance to Thay with large Thayan face tattoos.

Difficult to judge, I just hope that everything gets "rougher" in post-production. Like, those banners are too NEW, the armor in the second picture looks like cosplay, and so on.

At least not the Forgotten Realms. It'd be one thing if this was a Greyhawk movie, a setting which draws more heavily on the sword and sorcery genre, but the Forgotten Realms is very much a heroic fantasy setting.
