No, I did not do the thing you did not ask me to do, but now, after work hours, have belatedly realized you should have asked for and are now pretending were in the original request which, alas, is in written format so we know you didn't request it of anyone before just now.

Post-Crisis, he was Valor and they showed his (previously almost non-existent) 20th century adventures that were a prelude to him going into the Phantom Zone until the LSH era. So he was a cosmic hero, bopping around the DC Universe for a few years, and seeing ancestors of the threats the LSH would face, etc. It was decent.
I was still a customer at that time. I wasn’t necessarily a fan of the retcon, but there’s been worse.

That's fair. He's just so bland. I'll amend: how about Star-Man (Mikaal Tomas)?
As implied before, DC has LOTS of Superman alternatives.

Captain Thunder

I remember reading a Superman comic with Captain Thunder and it was baffling to me why this character existed, since DC had already bought Fawcett Comics at that point.
The Acquisition Tango. Once DC won the lawsuit, they were sitting pretty. The courts had pretty much said, anybody who was sufficiently Superman-like was an infringement, and by that point every comics company had tried their hand at a knockoff. So, there was a great sell-off, with DC acquiring other titles very cheaply from tiny comics companies that didn't want to get sued. It's not where they got all of their Superman knockoffs, but it's how they got a lot of them.
