Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I think it is likely my household falls under spanish speaking, though I assume they had to mine the data for that fact somewhere, and I wonder where.
My father used Sergio instead of Serge as his first name on FB. Meta kept switching the language to Italian despite us telling it to use French multiple times. He had to change to Serge to resolve the problem.

My first name is French, Robert, pronounced with the hro- sound, however with English speakers it would be futile to try to use it that way. I have a German friend Jonas, with a similar deal.

IANAL, but the most popular YouTubers in your profession don't strike me as the best folks in the game, just the ones most determined to build a social media following.
Legal Eagle did a nifty video ranking Trump’s legal counsel in much the same way as others rank brands of shoes, clothes, watches and so forth (SABCDEF). One of his points was similar to your observation, that the more time a given lawyer was spending doing the media rounds, the higher the probability that they were not good legal practitioners.

There is a certain hilarity in that fb can't decide to give me everything in english or spanish.
I don’t use FB, but on YouTube and in popup ads in games, I routinely get ads in languages I don’t speak. And I don’t mean intermittently, I mean I’ll just randomly get a run of weeks of non-English ads. Then the run will end, and it’s back to English.

I can sorta understand why I get the Spanish language ones- I live in Texas; my ancestry contains some Puerto Rican & Peruvian which- while not commonly known- may be in some mined data fouling things up.

But the Korean & Chinese language stuff?🤪🤪🤪

Well, in the end, if you spend all your time doing interviews and talking about legal subjects, you're only spending so much time actually, you know, practicing law. And if you're bad or just let yourself get out-of-date it bites you on the behind less.

This doesn't mean everyone who does that is incompetent (any more than it does with medicine or science) but it does tend to mean its easier for the incompetent to get by, so they can make up a big part of people doing that.
