Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yeah, we're spoiled for choice here in Portland OR when it comes to fast food. Thanks to our unique city ordinances that allow vendor trucks to remain parked overnight, food trucks have really taken hold...they're a big part of the culture here. There are literally hundreds of them.

It's always the same story: a small indie food truck will open up somewhere, usually next to a tourist landmark or shopping center or campus where there's lots of foot traffic. It will get popular with the local lunch crowd, then the crowd gets big enough to draw the attention of other food carts. So another food cart will park next to it, and then another, and soon you have a whole cluster of them in the neighborhood (food cart "pods," we call them). Some of the larger, older pods serve up everything you can imagine, from tacos and burritos, to fish & chips and sausage rolls, to Korean-Mexican fusion and vegan gluten-free pizza. Everything cooked fresh to order.

Eventually they start staying open for the dinner crowd, then buskers start playing live music for tips. The cart owners all chip in to rent additional parking spots for a couple of shared picnic tables and string lights. Before long, you have an eclectic outdoor neighborhood restaurant instead of a parking lot.

Here's one down by City Hall:

And another on SE Foster:

And another in the Bellmont District, close-in southeast:

If you're a foodie and you're going to be visiting the Pacific Northwest, check out the local food carts. You won't be sorry.

I'm just glad things are going so great for you guys that the biggest topic of conversation is the comparative reach of different fast food outlets
Well, it's the biggest safe topic to discuss in these trying times. I could start a half-dozen other conversations on more pressing topics, but I'd be swimming in red text by nightfall.
