I’ve noticed quite a number of chiropractors claiming to also be nutritionists.

In America, anyone can claim to be a nutritionist since I don't think it's regulated in most (if any) states. I think this might be reversed with dietician in some of the other English speaking countries.

I miss Shakey's. I really liked the unique flavor and specially the chips. I think I was like twelve when they left my country.

I can confirm they do have that unique "what is that ingredient" flavor still. I suspect it's a cooking oil they use or something.

There's definitely a cognitive bias a lot of folks fall into where they study something really in-depth and then mistakenly think their expertise confers superior understanding of another field entirely.

I always remember that Linus Pauling used to take something like 3000 mg of Vitamin C a day, convinced it would ward away the common cold. Even really respected scientists can fall into quackery. There’s got to be something baked into our DNA at some level that makes us want to think food is the cure-all for what ails you.

Yeah. The disturbing thing is always people who aren't scammers, but genuinely have convinced themselves some bit of woo is true, and have the kind of educational background and experience that should have given them the tools not to fall for it.

Those particular style of potatoes are also very rare to find at food joints in my experience. I can think of one local restaurant that offers them, and--Shakey's. Its honestly the only reason to eat at Shakey's IMO.
