Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Y'know, I just realized something. Yes, I've kinda/sorta followed the playtests, but, not really. Not particularly seriously. So, after being a way from En World for a bit, I wandered into the D&D section to see the reactions to the books being previewed. Every single thread is a thousand posts long. I tried reading the first couple of pages, and then just ... lost the will to continue.

I think I'll wait a month or so to see how this is falling out. The preview stuff I saw looks interesting, and it looks like I'll buy it eventually. But, I just cannot seem to raise the passion that some people are showing here.

Yeah, I'm right there with ya @Hussar. It looks like a fine product, and I'm glad Hasbro is going to make a mint off of it, and it's good to see lots of people are excited about the hobby. But...eh. I'm just over here prepping for my weekly 5E game, not really paying attention.

Some folks are really worked up, but I guess I don't find it all that engaging at the moment. Which says more about my own mood nowadays than it says about the 2024 D&D books, honestly.

I’ve had the occasional “not bad”/“surprisingly good” steak at a particular Golden Corral. Who is doing the cooking really does matter.

But if I’m actually craving steak, I’ll either go to a steakhouse or cook it myself.

Agreed in full. I took the boys there yesterday afternoon after our game session and the steak was pretty good. But they had some chicken where the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender - delicious!

Fencing has drifted so far from its origins. In reality both would be dead, several times over. It's now a hopped-up game of tag.

I enjoy watching fencing. I suppose it is one of those things where it is really just a sport now (I can't imagine there are too many rapier duels these days anyways). I also like watching taekwondo but since they shifted to the chest guards with censors it does look a lot more like a game of tag to me (they used to have a trembling shock rule to score a point, meaning your strike had to cause visible 'trembling shock' but I think that rule is either no longer use or simply superseded by the electric censor which radically changes how sparring looks).
