The key is getting into your hindbrain one simple fact:
"You can let them have the last word."

That one is hard for many people, but it is the key.
Yep. And sometimes, that can be VERY difficult in the face of dissemination of dangerous misinformation, especially when you actually know better and can refute it, with citations.

Unless you’re a mod and can actually DO something about it- and it’s your job to do so- at some point, you have to be able to let it go.

Which, for local purposes, it then pays to remember that we are talking about games. Someone being wrong about a game should not qualify as "dangerous misinformation".

We’re USUALLY talking about games. But as we all know, sometimes serious, off-topic stuff pops up in this particular subforum.

First off, I want to apologize, I didn't intend to derail our regularly scheduled anti-pineapple propaganda pushed by that notorious iconoclast Snarf and make this thread all serious. That being said...

I want to say thank you to you all for your stories and input. It is good to get multiple perspectives when the world around you seems to be spinning out. It is tough to stay grounded and sane in that environment.

I will say that I do try and give the benefit of the doubt because everyone, myself included, has a bad day. I think I have avoided getting the dreaded red text directed at me (or maybe it was one time, I don't know) but I hope that should I slip most everyone grants me the grace I have granted others.

Then there are those that have damaged my calm and have evaporated any grace I have given them. Those happy few get the ignore.

Peace out, and may you come to understand the sublime nature of pineapple on pizza. Death to those that dare to desecrate the sacred pie with anchovies. Bring it, this is the stone baked hill I will die on.

I mean, the most powerful institution in the entire world hates me and wants my life to be as miserable as possible, sometimes arguing about pineapple and anchovies (such as they are) is the only thing that keeps me grounded, or at least distracted. My ignore list is thus reserved not for people who like pineapple or hate anchovies (wrong as they are) but those who, at least reading between the lines, tend to agree with the aforementioned institution.

Oh, and grammar nazis. :p

I have a thought for a thread, but I'm not sure how to word it. Basically putting aside your own politics when reading a book.

EDIT: There and now I full expect a few walls of text.
