Player looking to start a Core 4e game [recruiting players and DM]

First Post
This game is primarily intended to be a really BASIC introduction into D&D 4e for me and hopefully other newbie players. Players of all skill levels are invited though people who have been playing for a long time will probably find it bland.

What this game needs:

1 DM (must be patient and willing to answer dumb questions)

3-5 more players (if not a complete newbie like me must be patient and willing to answer dumb questions)

1 Plot (I currently only have a Players hand-book, though I'm saving up for other core books, so the Campaign/story/whateveritscalled is up to the DM so long as it is basic and a good introduction)

I think you'll find that 4E is infinitely easier to pick up than 3E. Such an introductory game would quickly get up to speed, regardless of "dumb" questions. I wouldn't limit this to newbie players only (of which I doubt there are all that many on EN World).

That said, I'd throw in for this, as I don't often see new 4E games on this site. I could even be convinced to run something, but I must confess I don't have a whole lot of time right now to come up with anything mind-shatteringly original.

not looking for anything mind shatteringly interesting. Hell I'll be happy with:

King: "Kill Dragonlord. Save Princess. Save the world."
Hero: "lol, wut?"

Ok maybe not quite that bland...

I just want to get some game experience without screwing up something well planed. I would like the other players to be newbies too but I had a feeling there aren't many on EN World so I thought I would leave it open to everyone.

I'd definitely be interested in playing some 4e, as my 3.5e plate is nicely full, but I'd really like to dive back into some 4e stuff, too. I've not played it since my move from Idaho, back to Oregon, this past Summer, which is a big change as we were playing it weekly, in-between Star Wars Saga Edition sessions.

I have a vague idea of a Point of Light (PoL) we can use as a base of operations and a few figments of possible low level adventures. I guess jot me down as DM until further notice.

Let's get 2 more players and I'll post a recruitment thread... or maybe I should just do that now. Hmm...

I'll post a recruitment thread tomorrow. Here are the basics of what I'd like to see from character creation:

* 1st level, using only stuff (races, classes, feats, equipment) from the PHB for now. I will exception Alchemy from Adventurer's Vault, but that's it so far. Nothing from Dragon, nothing from Martial Power, and so forth. I don't want to burden the game with complications, at least not at the beginning.

* As the game moves along, material from other sources (Martial Power, Forgotten Realms Players Guide, etc) will be brought into the game. That includes books coming down the pike, such as PHB2, AV2, Arcane Power, etc. I usually get all that stuff as soon as it comes out, and I have a DDI subscription, so I have all the Dragon material.

* Don't worry too much about a character background. Once I post the basics of the PoL, feel free to embellish upon whatever kernels of backstory you wish to bring to bear.

Very good, I'll start working on several concepts, so as to have options once I see how or what other PCs folk develop.

By the way, Insight, do you have access to D&D Insider and the character builder?

It's not essential, but I figured I'd ask.

I'd like to give it a try, seeing I'm in only one other game right now. I'd like to try a leader. Cleric or Warlord, I'm unsure at the moment.

Yes, I have a DDI subscription. I have downloaded, but not used, the release version of the Character Builder. I guess I should get around to it eventually.
