D&D (2024) Playtest 6 Survey is Open

If they go with the first option they need to have each class gaining similarly comparable returns from those rests. They can't have a situation where Alice gets to nova through the next encounter or two and bob mostly just gets nothing or an insignificant participation prize out of the/some short rest just because some classes are long rest attrition based while others are totally not just ADEU short rest nova classes in a long rest attrition based game.
that is the point, all classes should benefit from short rest if it is in the game, not just from few HPs healed via HDs.

maybe wizard can have Arcane recovery for every short rest?
Sorcerer could regain 1/2(round up) sorcery points?
bards could start with Font of inspiration, not wait for 5 levels?
Barbarians get one rage back?
Warlocks get 1/3rd their level(round up) of spellslot levels, similar to wizard but a little weaker.
Rangers get to replace one favorite terrain. Hahahaha!

Well, yeah, there’s a big difference between one class feature that gives you two always-prepared spells immediately and four more over the course of several levels, as opposed to three class features that each give you one always-prepared spell.

Imagine how much better it would be if there an early ranger class feature like “ranger’s arsenal” or some that gave you Hunter’s Mark and barrage spells as always-prepared spells when you reached the appropriate levels, instead of each of those being the features for individual levels.

Damn, now I wish I had said that in the survey… 😅

I said that, because once I realized that was what they were doing, I realized it was way too confusing.

Oh crap! I finished the survey last night and I just remembered I wanted to recommend adding WIS modifier to the Monk's Discipline Points :(
I recommended that in 3 different spots (Monk general, Discipline Specific, Final Survey comments) along with moving Flurry of Blows to the attack action and giving monks and addition +1 to an ability score at every feat level.

Praised the Druid, only minor changes of going to 8 forms known at level 8 (so players can be like Doric from the movie) and adding Plane Shift onto the Primal Spell list.

Gave huge love to the new Rogue Sneak Attack powers.

Rated Ranger high but need Hunters Mark to not have concentration broken by damage (or get rid of concentration competely). Also want to see the Beastmaster have the option to apply the stat block to an animal in the wild. I know quite a few Ranger Beastmaster players who's entire concept of the class is around finding and befriending an animal, and the summoning of a spirit kills the fantasy for them.

Big love to the Bard, Cleric and Paladin. Do want to see a cooldown for Divine Intervention.

Overall, I think the changes in this packet do a great job of hitting the thematic concerns of the classes while giving some great quality of life improvements. Very hopeful for 2024 PHB at this point.

yeah, I am not too optimistic for Monk and Ranger feedback.
You? Not optimistic? Color me shocked 😜

More seriously, I expect monk to get another pass and another round of feedback; I don’t expect that will result in any major changes to the class. We’ll likely continue to see small, incremental changes, and the people who have major problems with the monk’s fundamental design will still have those problems with the 2024 iteration.

The ranger might get another pass, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t.

I wouldn't worry about thst too much, since they aren't about to do that: no other Class gets bonus Spell Slots for an Ability score.

I think what @tetrasodium is sayIng is that the playtest is not addressing that 5e was built on GM adjudication and old school adventure design but not doing so equally among classes. And that too much time was wasted.

So it tetrasodium's mind, it doesn't matter how good the good parts are if a solid chunk is bad and the only one solution to the core problems is ever attempted.
I think toxic behaviour is rating everything negatively. It affects a large part of the fan base negatively.
