I voted one because I think it is a conceptually stupid feat, and should never have been introduced. I'd have laughed if I'd seen it produced by fans, the fact that WotC decided to use it is awful.

(and for traditional hoplite fighting, or whoever else used long spear and shield simultaneously - create a feat for that specific real-world example. It makes much more sense than this generic bit of sillyness)

I bought it for my barbarian as more of a style feat than useful. Though, being able to use a greatsword and shield is fairly useful.
Have you ever considered buying an animated shield? If you can get it easily as a magic item, why wasting a feat, I think. (Yes, I know, it costs money, that you don't have in the first few levels. But you never have enough feats...)

I think it's a silly unbelievable feat that shouldn't have been printed. I don't know nor care if it's balanced or not. It a stupid concept.

I voted "Of limited use".

Elder-Basilisk's analysis is spot on. Unless you are gaining reach or some other specific tactical advantage, this feat is at best a wash by the numbers.

If you want to minmax damage, you are much better off taking dual shortswords with a buckler (so you gain the AC advantage when you don't get to full attack).

I give this feat high marks for design concept and execution. It is not an example of an uber-feat, but simply an option to allow a character to do something funky & underpowered at the cost of a feat. Who can complaing about that?

I like it

what about two blood axes?

And can't you use a shield AND an animated shield?

and another thing, you might not want to use an animated shield because you can't animate towershields.

.... or you can get no animated shield, for some reason (low-magic campaign, anyone?)

Actually, the feat can be quite useful with reach weapons and a low-strength fighter/something. Sometimes the value of a shield should not be ignored at higher levels either. This way a fighter specialized in a 2H-weapon might have a better option then either dropping the shield or the weapon.
