Point Blank Shot and Far Shot

I like the idea. Let's kill all the sacred cows. I like it as a feat, like in traps and treachery. It gives PCs and DMs more to work with by granting it to certain characters. I like options.

Next thing you know there will be a feat that counters far shot and sneak attack, such as increasing your movement rate. Oh...wait a minute...there already is. :D

Ya, but it's not a really good one. They should have made it a bit better. :(

Just want to make sure that I didn't leave the impression that I didn't realize that there were many things that could influence the 30ft limit. All I meant was that in a typical encounter where the archer was at 30ft, the there would normally be someone that could reach the archer in response to the attack immediately. If the range was 45ft, then typically, there would not.

Anyway, I'm honestly not a nay-sayer on this. There have been lots of people that have been trying to increase the 30ft limit on ranged sneak attacks to 60ft or 90ft at very little cost. That I do have an issue with. Using a feat to increase to 45ft is not too bad (unless used underground where the archer has 60ft darkvision and the targets only have 30ft, but I'm sure there are examples of where things get bad in the present rules).

Drag Mag

Dragon Mag had a long article how to build your own feats and the DON'Ts. One of them was: Never bug with the 30ft.

I wouldn't care though. Holy cows taste fantastic.

That's just annoying because they never tell you why. For all I know we're missing a perfectly good reason why not to do this. But one of the big problems is the Dragon loves to give advice, but never reasons.

Because they are game designers and we are peons who could never comprehend the brilliance of the 3ed design.

Sorry but I've basically heard that from them, and from people defending them on numrous occasions and it always irritated me.

Snipers Eye!

In Song and Silence there is a 4th lvl. Assassin spell called Snipers Eye. This spell gives the recipient Darkvision as per the spell, the ability to make ranged sneak attacks within 60', the ability to make ranged death attacks at 30', and a plus 15 competence bonus to spot! Its a very limited spell though for two reasons, one it is an Assassin exclusive spell and its 4th level for them, two it only gives these bonuses from the square you cast the spell. So if you move more than five feet from the spot you lose all bonus for casting the spell.

That does. Many of the peons do hold advanced degrees and are particuliar smart. Now, I'm not one of them but I know of some. :D Add to it I've talked to game designers and they sounded like they might have completed high school. I thought gamers were on the fringe of society, we should ban together for the common good. Yet, these people hold an elitist attitude. Makes me sick.
