D&D 5E Preview of Eberron Rising!

A first level spell is only needed to have it around for another hour. Compared to the random potion, that seems a lot more powerful. As a sidenote: a sorcerer using sorcery points to create a lot of first level spell slots looks like a good multiclass option. You could get a lot of a 3 level artificer dip.
Right now I see an alchemist rathher as a 3 level dip class. Of course, he gets his unique +int modifier to healing spells and access to healing word, making it quite potent but with the artillerist also adding a d8 to spells in addition to having his flame thrower leaves a slightly bad feeling for the alchemist. If his potions were not random at all, it would at least seem more balanced since a potion of bless that does not take concentration is indeed very powerful.
Bear in mind that the only "Random" potions are the ones that you get for free, and that they are determined when created.
So you can't guarantee a potion of Boldness from your free ones, but you do know what potions you have available to use after you create them. If you really want a potion of Boldness, you can see if you get one for free, and then just choose to make one with a 1st level slot if you didn't.

As 1st level spells, those potions are pretty good considering you can break the action economy a little. You can stack all those buffs with no concentration, and pass the potions to your party beforehand so they are taking the actions to "cast" them.
Possibly pretty solid for a character wanting more party support options rather than more personal power.

Yeah, it really hurts that Alchemist vibe well.

I'm also pretty sure that the Alchemist Artificer can choose to create a homunculus, which is probably controllable with a bonus action like the steel defender is. Add its damage or other options to the cantrip + Int bonus, and the Alchemist will probably be more equivalent to the other subclasses than might first appear.

From what we where told earlier, the Homunculus is now an Infusion. So, whilst alchemist can certainly make it it may be that any type of artificer can make it now.

Was the Battlesmith buffed or nerfed?
Much the same. They only add int bonus to attack and damage if the weapon is magical now (not much hardship). Only Battlesmith gets extra attack now, and doesn't need a magic weapon for it (which again won't have much practical effect).

That’s...a whole thing. Okay.

What does the base class get in place? Or did they just decide that good cantrips were enough?
