Radiance Monster Hunter (IC)

"Remember once we go through the barrier I created, we cannot return that way for 24 hours, if we need back in here we will have to find another entry. I don't think we will be finding anything more informative than the book the little one found. I for one am ready to check the location he found in the book." With that Grynm steps outside waiting for the rest to follow.

As the party talks, Giuseppe walked into the back room and pulled up a chair to open the ovens of the crematorium. Inside all three are is a goodly pile of ash and some burnt bones.

GM: Anyone looking into the oven can make a Heal or Nature check. Your results...
[sblock=DC 15+]The small bits of bone not destroyed by the fires of the oven are off. You would have to examine them more closely or under a microscope to be sure what is wrong with them, but you don't think they are humanoid.[/sblock]
[sblock=DC 20+]The bones appear to be those of small animals, probably dogs.[/sblock]

Since Eli was looking for bodies, he walked over to the ovens as well, looking in.

OOC: Heal check: [roll0]

Yay crit!

"These are animal bones. Dogs, most likely," Eli said, sifting around a bit in the ash. "Maybe old what's-his-name has been giving people ashes of animals, instead of their loved ones, taking the bodies for himself. If that's the case, he could have a lot more bodies stacked up wherever it is he took them."

"Hmm..." Giuseppe said. "Not humanoid!" As Eli related what he knew, the kobold nodded. "That ah-sounds likely."

Outside Grynm notices that there appear to be a few more people on the street. Some of them are watching the business you just stepped out of. They are trying to pretend like they are just loitering about but they are doing a poor job of it.

Just as he is noticing this two coppers, a large burly human and a lizardfolk, round the corner talking with two scruffy looking men. One of these 'locals' points over at you and the business. Both bobbies are wearing the distinctive blue longcoats and the tall white wool cap with their badges. They also both have heavily looking baton clubs at hand.

The human scowls over at Grynm and the pair start walking towards him...

Satisfied with the discovery in the ovens, Giuseppe dragged the chair over to the barred door, making a loud scraping racket in the stone chamber. Reaching the door, he climbed onto the chair and pushed on the bar with his back, eventually working it out of the steel slots. Hopping down as the bar fell to the floor, the kobold pushed the alley door open for a peek outside.

They were in an awful part of town, by all accounts you'd think the fuzz would avoid this area like the plague ridden hell hole that it was, but here they strolled straight away. Grynm cried out quite loudly, ensuring that his companions inside the building could hear him, "Officers! Just who I was looking for!" Grynm then approaches the officers before they can get to the door of the building. "I saw some men coming out of this building, running down the road thataway, when I tried to enter the building to see what had happened I couldn't get past the door."

OOC: This is not going to end well for me... Bluff: [roll0]

As the bobbies finally stride (or maybe just shuffle) up to Grynm, the human officer glares at him saying "Here now you would not be a fibbin' me, would ye govner? Wats' this all about, ye not some lookout for yer friends loot the place are yes?"

Up close Grynm notices that both officers are fairly shabbily dressed and smell as it has been some time since they have launder their uniforms. The human has at least a week of stubble growth and his eyes are fairly bloodshot. The lizardfolk is absently scratching himself enough that you get the idea his uniform might well be infest with some form flees, and both have the stink of stale alcohol on their breath.

In the back room, Giuseppe pulled back the lock and hopping off the chair pulled open the back door. The odor of rotting garbage hit him and the others fairly hard. Peeking outside into the alleyway you see that one end is blocked with some form of wooden fence while the other end leads back to the open street. The ally itself is full of garbage especially by the wooden fence.

GM: You can make a Perception roll to look about into the alleyway. Also anyone who gets an Perception roll of a 15 or better (in the back room or office) or a 10 (in the lobby area) hears the cops talking with Grynm outside. Grynm can also make an Insight check vs. the cops

[roll0] Perception.

Trebuchet, waiting in the lobby for folks to agree to move on, notices the sound of a familiar person speaking to two unfamiliar people outside. Another distraction? The journal had provided Trebuchet with some much-needed evidence that there was in fact something untoward going on, though the possibility of simple mental breakdown could not yet be dismissed.

It decided to investigate the potential altercation outside, with the aim of minimizing its impact on the timeline for the case.

So the 'officers' found themselves facing not one, but two...the second one grinding and clattering out of the cremetorium and eying them with large round, glowing eyes.

"Is there a problem, officers?"
