RAGE OF DEMONS Minis From WizKids

Coming soon from WiKids are the official licensed Rage of Demons miniatures. Here's a quick look at three of them - the invisible blink dog, the air mymridon, and the the drow scout. These come in the Icons of the Realms series.

I am no Paizo guy.....but every week they preview minis. It must not matter.....

Yes, but their website actually has this thing called content. I remember when WotC did too. (Seriously, even for those of us who aren't PF fans the Paizo website is great. There is always art to "steal" or new NPCs or whatnot.)

Using some epic google perception skills, I managed to find a secret door to a place called Needless Essentials, and found this SDCC Wizkids pic... Incredible that this has been lying around since july 10 and no-one found and posted it. :(

So yeah, we are also seeing:

Large Roper
Medium ??? (spectre? ghost?)
Medium Water Myrmidon
Large Carrion Crawler (looks epic! just like the old 2E art!)
Medium invisible human wizard (Elminster maybe?)
Medium Xorn

And on the other side, there is the Gargantuan White Dracolich. :)

Why doesn't WotC or wiz kids preview this stuff?

WizKids are an absolutely bizarre company. I can understand why Wizards make their decisions, even when I don't agree with them. WizKids? They're opaque.

Wizards will preview some of them, but I think they also think that its a WizKids product, so leave a lot of the previewing to WizKids.

Cheers!

Any demons?
So far, no. This set seems almost to be Elemental Evil part 2, what with the air and water myrmidons and the genies.

I'm loving the look of the roper, carrion crawler, and xorn. I want those!

Anyone else wishing the gargantuan dracolich was some other color besides white? I don't know why, but I'm just getting kind of sick of all the white dragons. WotC did Icingdeath back in the day. Paizo has a big white too. How about a big green? I think there was a huge one in that last WotC set (Lords of Madness?) or thereabouts, but we've never had a gargantuan green, as far as I can remember.

There was a Huge green in Legendary Evils but it was the butt-ugly 4E version. Just sold mine now that thankfully 5E is back to the proper finned look.
And well, we are never gonna have a gargantuan green - the new gargantuans are like slightly over Huge.

I love the design of the white dracolich, and it is unique for sure. Odd choice to make it a gargantuan and not the red dracolich, but I loved all their gargantuans so far, they are amazingly sculpted and painted. I am sure we will get a gargantuan green too eventually - so far we had 2 metallics and 1 chromatic, plus the two dragon gods. I would not be surprised if the next gargantuan was not a dragon, though.

That's right. It wasn't the last set. It was the one that had all the "elder" dragon minis. And yeah, I hated that nose spike they put on the 4e green dragon.

Yeah, I love that red dracolich, and I'm glad they ported it over from Attack Wing. I'm still disappointed that the dragons are all too small (just like the giants, and some of the elementals, and so on and so forth ... What's up with that anyway? Is WizKids just not paying attention? Does WotC not care that the minis don't match up size-wise?).

I would not be surprised if the next gargantuan was not a dragon, though.
It would be cool if they did some demon lords. A gargantuan Demogorgon would rock.

Why do you think they are small? They are just the same size as in the old days, in fact the larges are larger than most of the old DDM ones. The Tyranny of Dragons large red dragon has a wingspan that almost puts Tiamat to shame. The giants are actually larger than the old ones - the new frost and stone giants are HUGE compared to the old ones. I use them for elder/chieftain giants.
And Wizkids is making these, don't forget - not Hasbro's other company like before. They care nothing about the old DDMs, let's face it, that line ended years ago. I am just glad we have D&D minis again - I cannot complain, they are actually doing some very obscure monsters like the Darkenbeast or the Spectator (whom I mostly know due to Baldur's Gate 2 - loved that guy)

Why do you think they are small?
They don't match the stated sizes in the Monster Manual. Adult dragons are meant to be Huge, but the WizKids dragons are mostly Large at best. The giants are all supposed to be Huge as well, and while the figures might be, they're squeezing them down onto Large bases. And while all four main elemental types are meant to be Large, the water and earth elementals are only Medium size.

So yeah, it seems like no one at WotC is bothering to make sure WizKids is doing all the figures so they're the right size for the RPG.
