Readying Attacks

"Partial Charges" make no sense to me whatsoever, so they don't exist in our group.

No one has ever adequately explained to me what the heck a partial charge IS.

Given the following information...

1) A single attack is a partial action
2) A charge is a FULL action
3) Normally, one can only move 5' as part of a partial action

I don't understand how charging - which is NORMALLY a full round action can suddenly be reduced down to a single partial action, especially considering you're moving 10 feet and attacking, instead of the 5 feet normally allowed for any OTHER partial action.

Weird -- I had no idea. What a stupid rule, by the way! It doesn't list a DC for the concentration check, and it doesn't mention what happens to the potion on a failed concentration check.

Surely the DC isn't tied to the potion's effect: it shouldn't be more difficult to drink a potion of cure serious wounds than to drink a potion of cure light wounds. But do you lose the potion when you fail the concentration check? And are wizards really better at drinking potions than fighters (since the wizard, unlike the fighter, will have ranks in concentration)?

Rule Zero strikes again.

Pretty intuitive, actually. DC is 10 + damage dealt. The only gray area is does the level of the spell in the potion apply. I'm sure you (just like me) would rule that it doesnt, so you're left with a very simple mechanic. DC 10 + damage dealt.

Charge = Attack PLUS Double Move (normally only single move allowed)

Partial Charge = Attack PLUS Single move (normally no move allowed)

It makes perfect sense if you consider a partial action as basically the same as a standard action minus the move. Take one move out of charge and you have a charge with only one move instead of two.

Note that in the PHB a charge is a "special standard action" rather than a FRA - perhaps for this very reason.
