Relics and Rituals 2!!! I GOT IT!!! (More)

It was just the DM companion Psion...well that and maybe some of the Ghelspad pics...

There was one in one of the character books too (don't recall whether is was W&W or S&S... think it was the latter.)

Incidentally, any mention of the obsidian pyre yet?

I'd LIKE to ban a lot from Magic of Faerun. While it's easy to keep Wizards spells out of circulation in the Scarred Lands, It's MUCH harder in a Faerunian game when you have GUILDS upon GUILDS with spells like Mestil's Acid sheath doing MORE damage than a cone of cold. Or Firebrand. Fire spiders is also another I have problem with along with Energy Transformation Field.

You do realise that Mestil's Acid Sheat deals +2 points per level, not 1d6+2 per level? So hardly more than Cone of Cold that affects several creatures for 1d6 per level. Mestil's only damages creatures that touch the caster. It's more of a protections spell than anything. Creatures that don't have acid resistance are just reluctant to hit the caster. Not too powerful, IMO.

Firebrand is sort of a mini Firestorm, with much smaller area. Maybe a tad powerful, not too much.

Fire Spiders.. whoah, at 500 gp a pop, I'd think twice before casting it! It deals only 6 pts of fire damage / square .. not too good. I wouldn't use it. It's friggin' 6th level! Or am I missing something?

Okay that is true. But I guess I just don't believe that R&R1 is any worse than Magic of Faerun or even Book of Eldritch Might, in terms of spells.

My favorite part of the book by far (not done reading it yet) is the introduction of psionics. I admit, I am a psionics fanboy. As an interesting sidenote, they present a PP progression chart that seems to closely align with the one in ITCK, as opposed to the PsiHB. This makes me giggle like a little schoolgirl.

The Order of Obsidian PrC ROCKS! They hunt down Slecarian (that was sort of close I imagine) relics etc. Really cool. BTW, I ordered my RR2 from buy.com for $18 and it arrived 10 days later with free shipping. I haven't found anywhere else cheaper. Golly, I'm turning into buy.com PR lately it seems.......

My local store didn't have it (of course :( ), so I'll have to continue bugging you for more details. I did picke up about a dozen new books though :D
That's why I call ahead... My kids eat better if I do.;)

Nightfall:
Hey, y'know those spells from R&R1 that are bulking out the Sisterhood of Shadow... Anything from R&R2 that'll fit that list?

What did you get in R&R1?

Lessee, IIRC, the two things of mine in R&R1 were Armor of Undeath and Pass the Years.

Nightfall, thanks for the offer, but I can wait patiently for the book to show up around here to find out what of mine made it. Besides, half the fun is seeing it in the store with friends, flipping through the pages, finding something of yours, and pointing to it while saying, "That sucker's mine!" :)

Nope. At least nothing beyond more vague wording. They might have some High Astrologers among them though, since they seem to be pretty powerful.

The "flavor text" from the Jordeh prestige class, as something of a teaser. ;)

Enjoy.

Jordeh (Jor)

Of the many tales that are told of the Ganjus, probably the most prevalent are of the so-called “tree ghosts,” mysterious figures that fade in and out of sight among the oaks of that mighty forest. More than one would-be invader has suddenly found himself surrounded by these elfin “spirits” and their oaken allies as the very woodland around him comes to life with but one purpose – to prevent further trespass into the sacred Ganjus.

The deeps of the Ganjus harbor Vera-tre, the soaring, majestic tree city of the wood elven folk. A city grown from the trees rather than built, Vera-tre is jealously guarded by its people, for there are many forces in the Scarred Lands that seek to destroy this bastion of Denev’s worship. Foremost among those guardians are the Jordeh (“Oakbrother” in the druidic tongue).

The Jordeh of Vera-tre are more than guardians of the Ganjus, however. The Jordeh – an organization that includes not just members of this prestige class, but also druids, rangers and even the rare cleric of Tanil – are the link between the spirit of the forest and the wood elven people. They hold close council with the Coventacle of Trees, the elder treants of the Ganjus who serve Denev, relaying the will and advice of the treants to their people. The Jordeh also serve their people by being impartial advisors to the Verdant Seat of Vera-tre. Indeed, it is the Jordeh who administer the tests to find the latest incarnations of the Four Eldest Beasts.

The druid or ranger who would know the secrets of the Oakbrothers must seek out a patron among the treants of the Ganjus who is willing to teach him the secrets of the Jordeh. The treant mentor, usually referred to as Oakbrother, then grants the candidate a quest that not only tests his worthiness, but also teaches him the delicate nature of balance in the Ganjus that they serve. If he passes and is accepted, the treant gives him his jordeh’lann and his training begins.

The Jordeh are not merely forest guardians, however. They serve their people as scholars and diplomats to the outside world, often travelling extensively on behalf of Vera-tre and the Verdant Seat. The Jordeh work closely with the Ganjus Vigil; indeed, several of the vigilants of that Vigil are known to have been accepted by treants as Oakbrethren.
