[sblock=ooc]If r1 is absolutely determined to kill you, damn the torpedoes marks, there's not much we can do. All we can do is make it so that if he does go all out for you, it's as difficult as possible for him. The panther is subject to Ikni's mark, so he's less dangerous than the dragon. IMO, put some distance between yourself and the dragon, make it so that if he wants to come after you he's not going to be able to hit anyone else. If you just head 6 squares south, then the dragon's breath (is it a blast 5 or blast 3? I'm not sure we've been told...) can't catch you and anyone else at the same time. So he can drop Ikni, or drop you, but not both. That's the idea. Best idea I've got, anyway.[/sblock]

[sblock=Derien's move]Perhaps V7?

  • Derien will still have cover from Ironheart's zone.
  • The dragon will be unable to include anyone else in a blast 5 attack (I think that's true for both breath and roar).
  • Thanks to the nearby rock, he might be unflankable.
  • He'll be within range of Ikni's protection.

[sblock=ooc]Thanks guys, Dunamin especially. The scenario I'm afraid of is "the dragon breathes on Ikni and drops her, the panther charges and drops me", but clearly it's past time for me to act.[/sblock]I have to keep channeling Netari's shield for as long as I can. There's only one thing to do.

Derien rolls to his feet, and runs for it.[sblock=Actions]Minor: Sustain Astral Condemnation (78 damage prevented)

Standard: Book it to V7[/sblock]

Rhole stumbles blindly away from the dragon and back to where he can hear the wood woad creaking in agony. His fingers fumble after the potion he saw dangling from a branch, and the gnome jams it into what amounts to Ironheart’s “mouth”.

“"You should protect nature," my Ma used to say, "Instead of making it combust with that infernal noise!" Never thought I’d be watering trees like this, though.”

“Guess there’s a first for everything, like fomorians crowd-surfing into your face during a show.”

Rock takes over while its master is unable to play, strumming a low-frequency bridge until the Great Ultra-Intense Thundering Audio Ripper is back in action.

“Rise and sprout, tree dude!” Rhole calls out when Ironheart stirs. “The cat and dragon is eating the elf, and while that makes for a nice backdrop to the stage, we could really use a hand or branch with the crowd control!”

Haruka glares at the dragon and whispers a single syllable. Something moving too fast to see darts from her to the reptile, and then it leaps from the dragon to the panther. Both creatures wince in pain.

"Well, that's a start."

Ironheart pops to his feet and pushes past Rhole, attacking the nearest target savagely. Its axe bites deeply into the dragon's hide and, amazingly, sends it staggering back. "HAAA!" the wood woad roars triumphantly, standing a little straighter.

Ikni springs to her feet yet again, and turns toward the panther, hands moving in patterns of binding. She takes a defensive stance and blinks her eyes several times, but cannot see anything.

Derien rolls to his feet, and runs for it.

Got you as close as I could without drawing an OA from the panther, which would have used up Ikni's immediate action and left you open against the panther.[/sblock]

The dragon looks around as the group begins spreading out, his rage drawn to Ironheart as the focal point of his anger "Why won't you stay down!" it bellows and unleashes a roar that ripples the air and slams into the wood woad, leaving his head spinning. The blast wave is coming right for Rhole, but the gnome manages to combat the sound wave with a jam from his instrument. Unfortunately, Rock is caught full on by the blast and his lifeless form falls to the ground at Rhole's feet.

The dragon flies back across the river and crouches below a large rock.

With the mist aura following the dragon, the panther is now left vulnerable stuck inside Ironheart's covering vines. The fey creature quickly bites Ikni, leaving the wounded swordmage on the ground as the many wounds finally take their toll. The beast runs away from the enemies and ducks behind a rock.

[sblock=Next Step]I was tempted to suggest that we make our escape. Nobody's immobilized, we got some distance to the dragon, and hopefully we can flee through woods that are too clustered for it to fly or follow at normal speed.

But I notice that its bloodied so we may actually have a chance of victory, provided we hit with some semblance of regularity.

Regardless, I'm thinking of having Rhole repeat his Save-A-Defender routine. He's blinded, so an attack is not feasible anyway.[/sblock]

Yeah, made sure I bolded it that it was bloodied, didn't want anyone to miss that. Oh in case you haven't noticed by now the dragon is not a solo, or even an elite

The Great Ultra-Intense Thundering Audio Ripper goes quiet. Somehow, everything goes quiet when Rhole stops playing to stare at the crumbled and quickly disintegrating remains of his trusty gargoyle-like partner.

“You can’t die, Rock! I won’t let you!”

Even as the gnome moves to save another of his band members, his eyes remain fixed on the dragon. The usual enthusiasm and delusional stardom-attitude has been replaced by seething rage, and Rhole’s hair is poised and vibrant like angry snakes that have come alive.

“You know nothing, you scaly off-key yapping bastard! YOU CAN’T KILL ROCK!

Somehow, that statement seems more profound to you than it might seem offhand. After reviving Ikniqpalagaq, Rhole strums up a heartfelt melodic song. An ode that reaches out with such feeling, that the very remains of Rock are stirred as if they would obey their master.
