[sblock=Ironheart's Thought Process]
These people are my grove; I am guarding them.

I certainly wouldn't treat killers and despoilers of nature as my grove, and I certainly wouldn't protect them.

Therefore, these people must not be killers or despoilers of nature - not even Haruka.

So all the fights they've gotten into must have been self-defence.

LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

The specter is more seriously considering your words, especially after such a convincing set of facts presented to it. It is still hesitating though as if struggling against some other order it received.

Haruka intimidate (Ironheart aid) (1d20 8=18, 1d20 7=16)

Another Skill challenge to convince the fey spirit(s) of your good intentions

Level 2 challenge - Complexity 2
Requires 8 successes before 3 failures

Most obvious options are social skills

Wow. so 5 successes 0 failures. (I counted the history as 2 successes as it sounded very convincing, good job). History though can't be used again.

[sblock=ooc]Oh. He bought that first argument. Ok. Good. Yeah...

I had such a clever follow-up if he hadn't been cowed. Now I'm not really sure what to do. Which is represented nicely by this natural 1. Still, that's an 11 if the spirit isn't from the Kingdom of Jade.[/sblock]

Haruka looks surprised that the spirit is listening to them. She was clearly expecting more hostility. "Um, yeah. Arnamil's expecting us anyway. He probably meant to tell you to, you know, just let us right in. So... we'll be on our way now," she cheerfully snarls in the Dragonborn's low growls.

"That's true," Derien amplifies, starting to get into the spirit of things. "Arnamil's expecting to get his ring back. He'll want to see us as soon as possible, I'm sure."

[sblock=OOC]Actually, at this point I sorta doubt it; more likely the lady of nightmares was right and this was just Arnamil setting us up to kill her. But whatever, we have to at least give him a chance to not be a scheming bastard.

“In fact, not only is your lord expecting us backstage...”

Rhole hooks up to the Great Ultra-Intense Thundering Audio Ripper and makes it wail with awe and passion while bending over backwards.

“He’s gearing up to hear us kick it off with one massive juicy jam all night! Power sauce to the people, baby!

The bard jams into what can best be described as "power sauce".

In a skill challenge encounter, every player character must make skill checks to contribute to the success or failure of the encounter. Characters must make a check on their turn using one of the identified primary skills (usually with a moderate DC) or they must use a different skill, if they can come up with a way to use it to contribute to the challenge (with a hard DC). A secondary skill can be used only once by a single character in any given skill challenge. They can also decide, if appropriate, to cooperate with another character (see “Group Skill Checks,” below). *emphasis mine*

We'll need something from Ironheart and Ikni (worst case you aid another, if you fail, there's no penalty)

Ikni wavers. "I thought Lord Arnamil wanted this ring. If he doesn't want it, I guess we should look for someone else who does?" But she cannot help the questioning tone in her voice at the end, and the effect is spoiled.

[sblock=ooc]Bluff, 1d20+0=3. :D Not optimal, I suppose, but true to character.[/sblock]
