Roswell

Depends on what it is that you like about Buffy. If you like Buffy because she and her friends are in high school, then you might like Roswell. I tried watching Roswell several times but I could never get into it even though I love Buffy and Angel.

I just couldn't get into it, and I watched it every week for most of the first season.

Buffy is, say, 50% teen angst and 50% supernatural ass kicking (maybe even 30/70, depending on the season).

Roswell, on the other hand, was 90% teen angst and 10% alien mystery. I just kept waiting for the ratio to switch, but it never happened while I was watching.

Roswell is a show that could have been better, but it wasn't to me. If you want solid romance backlit by a touch of the alien, then this show is for you. If you want mystery, action, and alien stuff with a touch of romance, then you should skip this show and avoid it like the plague. Teenage girls eat shows like these up ;).

For the early part of second season, they tried to explore more of the alien heritage and conspiracy arc but they were fast losing audience as well as TV rating. So they went back to the teen angst midseason but by then the nostalgia has come and gone.

This reflects my sentiments exactly.

I was okay with the 90%-10% ratio until the end of season 1, when the aliens get a big chunk of info about their presence. I was looking forward to season 2 to amp the alien stuff, maybe have the show go to a 60%-40% ratio. But alas, that wasn't meant to be.

Whatever cliffhangers they had were resolved too quickly or promptly ignored.

I don't know that liking Buffy means you'll like Roswell. I started watching Roswell because I caught a few minutes and fell in lust with Katherine Heigl*. So I kept watching it. Evetually, I actually started to like it. So all I can recommend is to give it a shot.
BTW, I didn't catch much of the first seaon, so I don't know how it differs from the other seasons.

*Sadly, Grey's Anatomy sucks, even with Heigl in it. It sucks enough that I dion't watch it. :(

The first season was good because it balanced the alien and the romance. As it progressed, however, romance took the show. Thee are some gem episodes past season one, it's just that overall it wasn't that spectacular. It really catered to the teen female crowd.
