Scotley's Tomb of Horrors 3.5

Well, crap! I'm so sick of people doing that! Just running off from games here without saying a word to anyone. How rude! I was trying to be all understanding and magnanimous and all that stuff, but now I'm just PEEVED.

And one of the worst offenders about this has been renau1g. Grrr!!!

OOC: Okay gang, we've got a new Rogue named Lillian Tealeaf and one or two more coming along with her. Give me a little time to introduce the new folks and we'll get the action moving in a day or so.

OOC: Since we are already out here in the middle of the bloody swamp, and the best guides around have been with us the whole time, I am prepared to make a slight assumption that Jillian Tealeaf has been with us the whole time, but has been extraordinarily quiet, even for her, up to this point. Does this suggestion suit all concerned?

IC: "Oh, Jillian, Dear! I think we have a task for you!!"

As you are assembling yourselves to venture into the tomb, it soon becomes obvious that Fin is missing. He was there to stand a watch during the night, but as you began to call for him, he is nowhere to be found. However, some other figures are approaching...

OOC: I read the wrong thread first so the newbys will be making an appearance.

From the far side of the hill comes the very faint running steps fo an animal. Clearing the top of the hill, a large wolf comes loaping into view. The eerie grey black beast looks at the party in the strangest way with it's bright yellow eyes then looks over his shoulder, back the way he just came. Then a petite elven maiden appears next to the monster, the slightest of breezes touching the edges of her long black hair. She carries a giant longbow that seems to be twice as big as her, with frozen air trailing from it as she moves, and a shield seems to be floating in the air next to her. Her free hand looks like its on fire, though she doesn't seem to mind.

Seeing the group at the entrance to the tomb she waves back from over her shoulder and scans the horizon, always keeping her bow in front of her as she slowly turns to cover the entire landscape, as a tiny woman tops the hill next to her. The elf starts moving down the hill quickly toward the group, and pulls a tattered bit of parchment from her belt. "Greetings comrades, I'm glad we caught you before you entered the tomb." Without an arrow notched in the bow, she stops a respectful distance away from the battered crew. "My name is Ballista, Bow of the Protector, and we were...a bit late getting to the tavern. Our ship was delayed in its arrival to Saltmarsh by the weather, sothe innkeeper sent us along to catch up with the rest of you. This letter is from him to speak to the truth of my claim." She holds out the letter and waits. The giant wolf steps up next to her and plops down right in mud at her feet. "Don't worry my friend Fongul here won't hurt you if you don't try to hurt him. Not that you would need such proofs. If Ambrose spoke to you of me as often as he spoke of you to me, then you should all know well who I am."

As Jillian catches up to Ballista and the wolf she shakes her head slightly. The large ones always seem to forget that her tiny legs can't quite cover the space that theirs do. As the elf starts moving down the hill quickly toward the group, Jillian again shakes her head a bit and jogs after her. Then once she has caught up, she merely stands next to Ballista and waits for the group to respond.
