I have to say...that's odd. Sorry 'bout that. You would think that someone with that much love of fantasy would easily segue into the hobby, especially given a spouse's inerest.

Not really...my wife is an avid reader, and enjoys fantasy novels as well. She loves video games, board games (Settlers, Betrayal at House on the Hill, etc.), and one-shot adventures...but she is much less comfortable with campaigns. She doesn't like the actual "make-believe" role playing aspect of it, and that crushes a lot of her enthusiasm for regular campaigns...that isn't to say that she doesn't still play though, so in that, I'm pretty lucky. :D

I'm also one of the lucky ones it seems. My wife is an avid reader, enjoys playing video games with me when they are multi-player but "loves" to watch me play the single player games too. That's her idea of "us time". :D

She plays D&D, and will play almost any RPG we put in front of her - Super hero, cthulhu, and ghostbusters to name a few. Campaign or one-shot, it does not matter. She paints her own minis as well. In addition to playing board and card games with myself and our friends on top of all that.

*contented sigh*

Being an english major, she also proofreads and edits my write-ups for my Star Wars campaign... because I'm the opposite of an english major.

My wife is 20-year gamer, mini painter, and more or less everything but DM. :) She can't manage FPS without motion sickness and sucks at RTS, but she's right there with things like Devil May Cry, Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat, and Baldur's Gate-oid things.

Although the pregnancy has darined a lot of energy, I'm still an active player.

Heh. My wife was chucking fireballs with one hand (Her instinctiver esponse to many situations) and holding the breast-feeding baby in the other. :)

Both our kids play, too. Core of the group. As for "me time"... Um... 20 years married, never much had any. We do more or less everything together. She's also my best friend.

Well, I guess you never know.

My wife has said she's not really interested in that kind of thing.

Oh, you mean to play D&D!

You get them over to play D&D and then if things happen to lead to other activities......
