Short Custom Campaign created for 2 -3 Players [3.5E] (Closed)

I might get up a concept over the weekend. I can fit in another slow-paced game. If we are playing in Eberron, I'll consider a goblin spellcaster focusing on summoning, with a strange affiliation with rats. Maybe from Dorramm or whatever it's called? I'll get you more information.

Good Start. I am thinking we might set this in Eberron.
I am also thinking something a little darker, but not too much.
What do ya think?

FYI: I will be gone all of next week to training in Chicago and I do not know if I will have internet access, so I may not be responding to posts until next weekend.

This could be cool.

I've had two really interesting (at least to me) character concepts rolling around in my head for a while.

Concept One:
A spellcaster who employs bells and chimes as part of his magic, most likely arcane. They would strengthen his magic, and a great deal of his magic would be sonic or sound based. This might require some custom stuff since I've never really seen anything that would follow this closely.

Concept Two:
A sage, a delver into the darker secrets, a philosopher in the classical sense. The closest thing to this I think would be the cloistered cleric from UA, although I've been attempting to work out something a little different.

Hey this seems really neat. I'm interested, especially if it's a themed game. Like, a party of Psionic characters or any class or... well, anything. A party of (race) could be interesting, or a party of inmates or a divine-oriented party.

Since the party size is so small and the players are to discuss what sort of game it's going to be, it seems to lend itself to a themed game anyway--at least partly.

If there are "spots" left, assuming there are "spots."

Edit: Ooh, any of the pairs of PrCs from Complete Adventurer would be interesting. The Nightsong ___, the Shadowbane ___, or the ... other one I can't think of right now.

So FreeXenon, are you really set on running a level 1 intro game? Seems like some of these folk (myself included) would rather see something a bit higher.

I am flexible with the starting level. I would prefer to keep it lower as the higher level the game gets there is an increase in complexity and draw on time.

What are ya thinking 3rd, 4rth?? Higher?

3rd or 4th would be nice, it gives some stretch to the characters.

What are your opinions on some of the suggestions offered up?

I actually like the idea of playing in Eberron, but maybe just because I'm reading the Binding Shard right now.

The two character ideas I have off the top of my head are a gnome spy type character and an ord druid. Hmmm.

Oh, and whatever level is fine for me.

So far interested parties are:
Ferrix, Jdvn1, Bobitron, AmorFati, Nonlethal Force, and Captain Tagon

It looks two more and then I will close recruiting.

If we play in Eberron you will not need the books, but they will defintely be helpful. This is where konwledge skills and Bardic Lore come in really handy.

Characters so far... we have a plethora of non-tanks types. That will, of course, make for an interesting campaign. Cannot be combat intensive or else a party of a Cloistered Cleric, Arcane Caster, Rogue Type, and Ranger will get crushed beneath the smelly heels of the Brelish Orkish Hordes of the Seventh Brigade. ;)

3rd or 4rth sounds good.

Well, if the party goes themed psionic, I could incorporate a few psionic levels into the character concept and have fun with that. I also like the thought of taking Tullia out with a pair of Nightsong ______. Their skills would blend well together, and they could go with any of the potential plot hooks I stated in my earlier post. Not that it would have to - of course, just thinking out loud.

I will say, though, that I've never played in Eberron and I don't have any of the books. Not that this will bother me, I just won't play a character who does alot of Bardic Knowledge or Kn:Local stuff! :)

If the game goes dark - meaning that the players are borderline evil or outright evil, I'd rather not play. I see enough unchecked evil in the world, don't need it when I roleplay! Now, if by dark you mean the characters go up against some pretty vile enemies .... then I'm all for that!

As for starting levels, I personally prefer starting at 2 or 3 myself. That's high enough to not have everyone constantly at the verge of dying ... but low enough that the character development choices are handled from an in-game perspective rather than a made-up background perspective.

By dark I do not mean evil, characters could be evil but I prefer not. It takes very good player to play one in a group that are not, and not spoil the fun. it provides for great rol playign opportunities.

By Dark I am referring to a darker feel to it. Not necessarily a crazy as CoC, but a similar flavor. I am not really going for a horror game, but a little bit darker than the standard game.

Edit: Knowledge Skills and Bardic Lore will provide you with the information that you may not be familiar with if you would have read the Eberron books. Knowledge skills are your friend.
