Very fun movie. Now THAT is the cinematic version of Forbidden Kingdoms.

I had one thought as
the Rocket Ark was lauching off to the heavens... Just where was it headed? I mean, Totenkopf's plan was to have it incinerate the Earth once it reached 100 km above the planet. So just where were these animals going to repopulate? Of course, if it was some other planet or moon, quite possibly that would leave it open for sequel. We find out that Totenkopf had already launched Rocket Arks to other planets/moons, and the one that was stopped was just the last rocket, which as the last rocket was the one built to incinerate the planet once it left. You know, the old, "will the last person to leave town turn out the lights?" theme.

Oh, and hey, did anyone else find it silly that as the rocket was about to incinerate the planet, Polly decided that they had to save the animals? My wife commented afterwards, "She insisted on stopping to save the cows, NO SILLY!, go save your planet first!" Heh.

But I loved how the movie touched on so many aspects of the genre. Shangri-La, Atlantis, Lost World, Buck Rogers, etc. ...

But anyway, I'd love to see a sequel. I'm going to go dig out my Forbidden Kingdoms book and dream for a while... Mmmm, Tesla Time...

We loved it, but I hope to God
those cows can swim -- because otherwise, they're going to be sucking sea water.

When they were underwater, did you notice
the ship the Victory (?) - complete with Kong's ripped-open cage - or the Titantic? Or the silhouette of Godzilla on the Japanese newspaper in the beginning?
Wonderful attention to detail.

Just saw it

Just saw the movie last night. It passed the kid test, two 5 year olds and a 6 year old liked it.

I loved how the movie managed to touch on all the aspects of the pulp genre, especially nailing the hero/heroine relationship down pat. The movie is gorgeous. I described it to my wife as "A color B&W film." It's worth seeing just for the visuals.
