D&D (2024) So what's with 2024 and beyond?

Since we have only the most wild guesswork as to when the revised PHB will debut, here's an alternative question. When do you think WotC will announce the release date? Will it be before the end of 2023, or will there be another D&D Direct announcement stream somewhere around March 2024?
Ah, @Morrus 's favorite type of post! An announcement of an announcement. Or rather, speculation of an announcement of an announcement!

My guess is in the spring there will be some sort of D&D spectacular event. Probably in Los Angeles, so that the CritRole and Joe Manganiello type folks can be there...

How the playtest is going, I can see at december of 2024, PHB only, with DMG/MM lagging for a month or two.

Honesty, I would rather that they say that the playtest is not going as planned and push it back to 2025.
Sadly, I don't think Hasbro will allow them to push anything back. Didn't Crawford already talk about their printing window?

After the company that makes mtg had to yoink the actual deck of cards from deck of many things bundle for sending "cards" in only the most technical of terms to reviewers I'd say it's not so unlikely.

You've got the remember that publishing a book needs to get listed in various listings used by retailers several months ahead of the release date where you see it on shelves. (Like ten months iirc). This a release that wotc needs to get right and shooting their own playtest in the foot with the entirely predictable GSLv2/OGL fiasco certainly didn't help matters. Pushing it to 2025 and being open about wanting to spend the time getting it right will do them a lot of good
