For a lot of us, it's not that we don't like 3rd edition. If we didn't at least tolerate it, we wouldn't play. Personally, I have a lot of fun with D&D, but I get leery about the application of the d20 system with all it's limitations, to other genres of game that just don't work well with the D&D system structure.

And these boards are for people who play D&D and d20 games, not just for people who think they're the greatest thing ever to grace a gaming table. Aren't they?

See, I don't know why this would be anything to be leery about. I don't think GURPS adequately handles all the genres it tries to cover, and it tries to cover them all. But I don't feel any concern about the next GURPS sourcebook that comes along. If it's a genre I'm interested in, I'll look at it, and if the GURPS system doesn't suit it, I either put the book down and find something else to interest me. Or I'll buy it as a source for other games. But I never feel the urge to say to SJG or its fans that this or that genre shouldn't be covered by GURPS. I don't see how it would affect me in the slightest.

They are. Of course, I was referring to folks who DON'T play, don't like the game, and are unapoligetic about trying to find a way to turn every thread they touch into a flaming troll attack concerning their dislike for the system. And we have some regulars who fit that bill. I come here to have an honest discussion about various topics (sometimes tangential, sometimes not) related to D&D/d20. Thoughtful and respectful disagreement is encouraged. I don't want everyone to agree that Harm is broken or not...a better system comes from such contention.

I just don't appreciate someone acting like the guy who always eats all the Fritos, but doesn't bring his own food to the game, you know? ;)

Eric is correct, of course, how to handle such issues.

Well, I don't play any d20 games at all and haven't played AD&D in 15 years or so...

But when I see a forum that says "General RPG Discussion" I assume that, regardless of the community's focus, the forum is for the discussion of any rpg. Since there are few forums that get a decent amount of traffic, I view and (on occasion) post here.

This forum also serves as a good distraction when RPG.net Open is slow :D

I'm not a 3E hater, in fact I like it. Though if I were playing a fantasy game I'd prefer it to be a hero system based game.(also I'd hate to run a hero system fantasy game unless they do a lot more with there fantasy hero line because i'm a lazy GM, and i like things handed to me) Hero system is my favorite system out there. After that I prefer earthdawn to D&D, then I'm all over D&D. 3e though seems to be the easiest system to get others to play, and that's why i play it.(Even with 3e popularity though I still haven't found good gamers, my current crop are flakes, they semi-frequently end up being no-show without warning, which means a cancelled game, and lots of work that I could of postponed. If I could find a new group I'd move on)

Your in the wrong forum, my friend. There seems to be a misconception here that us Dragonsfooters are all rabid 3e bashers. Well, maybe that's true. ;) :p However, being the civil folks that we are, we've confined all of our actual rabid animals to the Edition Wars forum. Every once in awhile, one will escape but us keepers promptly chase them back to their proper habitat.

And just as a note, I was registered here and a Community Supporter of ENWorld before I joined the Dragonsfoot team, and I don't like 3e! I do like gaming, healthy discourse, the mining of ideas and all you 3etards are just so entertaining! ;) :p :D

Sorry, just couldn't help myself! Hee-hee.

Wow. Didn't realize that some people had such issues with this. :)

I'm one of the 'exchange students' that's been posting at Dragonsfoot, and I have to say that I like the board personally. The 3e board doesn't get all that much traffic that I've seen. The mods are pretty good about keeping the rants contained to Edition Wars. Just be prepared for a good flame war if you go that way :).

Some posters such as MerricB, already have dual citizenship here and at Dragonsfoot. :)

Dual citizenship? Nay, say I am a citizen of the world!

More correctly, I post most often on ENworld, Dragonsfoot and the 3rdedition.org boards; I have some 1,700 odd posts on the latter board.

As a rule, I only browse through ENworld - my primary reasons for posting here include chatting with The Great And Terrible Gary Gygax and discovering opinions of the bulk of roleplayers.

I personally run two 3E Greyhawk campaigns (weekly and fortnightly), am just about to come into possession of the Hackmaster books, and have a fine 1st edition collection. :)

Cheers!
