So you dislike 3e...Why post here?

But when I see a forum that says "General RPG Discussion" I assume that, regardless of the community's focus, the forum is for the discussion of any rpg. Since there are few forums that get a decent amount of traffic, I view and (on occasion) post here.

This forum also serves as a good distraction when RPG.net Open is slow :D

Exactly.

Myself, my fave system has been Rolemaster for many years. But in the leadup to 3e, being a long-term fan of AD&D and with the links to Rolemaster via Monte Cook I was a regular visitor to ENWorld...I even bought the 3e core 3e books (and I'm only just starting my first regular 3e game now) on day one.

I've hung around becuase whilst I wasnt playing 3e I still had an interest in it, plus I have a real interest in the D&D derived worlds (I've been running a Rolemaster based Scarred Lands game for instance). Plus, generally the company on these boards is good.

See.. I have always been amazed by people who get rabid that a is better than b. And therefore b should be destroyed and erased from the face of the planet. I really dig Rolemaster. In a lot of ways it is my favourite system. I also dig the Storyteller system.. it has it's advantages. But, overall I have found that the 3e and D20 system has allowed me to introduce non-roleplayers to the Wonderful World of Roleplaying(tm) with a greater amount of ease.

To me the whole which is better is like people and martial arts.. my kung fu is better than your kung fu...

but.. really, it is all about avacado.. some people like it. others don't. You don't see people going all rabid about who likes avacado and who does.. we all just accept that some people like it and others don't.

and all you people who like it.... are crazy.. it is of the devil!!! EVIL!!! I tellz ya.

On it's own, I agree with your assessment. But, I do like avacado puree as part of nachos. Then again, nachos are evil unto themselves...they taste nice, but digest terribly.

Ahh, but Fuerte is so superoir to Hass. All the Hass trees should be bulldozed into the ground! And anyone who thinks otherwise is an avotard!

... I do sometimes have twinges of nostalgia for older editions...

for you it is nostalgia. for others it is current. semantics plays a key role in how things are perceived.

Y'know, I could mention that those who still drool over AD&D 1e are the same kinds of people who think an Apple II or Commodore 64 are still really neat, but I'll refrain.

After all, if you want to play with something that's obsolete, who am I to argue?:D

Well, at least you're not 'slumming' like Wil is, apparently.

Personally, I sometimes yearn for 1e...but like my old Atari in the closet, nostalgia tends to fade when you actually see it again in person. It may work for some, but it doesn't for me. You're welcome to be here if you don't dig 3E...I just ask that those so inclined not feel the need to come in and behave like everybody else. I want differing opinions...I just don't want lots of Jerks. :P

Thanks for the biting expose on my reasons for being here, and I will refrain from using my favorite invective from rpg.net :D
