[SPOILER] Buffy to live on with new star

If it was on a major network I'd agree, but it's on UPN. It'll be around next season if Joss wants it to be.

I've read rumors that UPN may not renew it. I vaguely recall one news item talking about a different guy in charge, and this guy probably never would have picked Buffy up in the first place. I recall another one saying that they want to see whether Sarah is sticking around, or not. The implication was that they may not renew it if she leaves, but the opposite makes more sense to me. A show without Sarah would probably cost them less, and may still hold the majority of viewers.

Then again, I don't _completely_ believe anything that the stars or networks say about this stuff, especially when contracts are about to be re-negotiated.

Call me skeptical.

Eliza Dushku may be back on Buffy and Angel for a couple of guest spot stints, but I doubt she want to have a TV career right now, i.e., having her own series.

I think she prefers to focus on her movie career, even though she's not at the same stage as Nicole Kidman is right now. Heck, even Nicole Kidman had to make some less-than-desirable movies -- some even unheard of -- before her star career skyrocketed.

Being on TV is a steady check, even if it is only for 22 shows (one more season) they could address somethings with the Faith character. Should pump some life back into things too.

Well if they do that, I'm okay with it. Mainly because I love Eliza/Faith. :) But I'm going with the skeptics. Wait and see. Personally I had hoped Josh would just end the show on a high (with all the cast and former guest stars returning.) but this is good too. In fact I will say it's better than having Dawny be the slayer. I personally hope that if there is a site move it's to maybe somewhere in Washington. Lots of Rain. :) Rain is depressing. ;)

I think it's safe to say that if Eliza Dushku does agree to do a tv show, it'll be a spin-off like Angel. It won't be a continuation of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Though it probably will have some old faces (The way Angel has had Darla and has Wesley and Cordelia). But I doubt those faces will be Xander and Willow. I read a recent SciFi Wire article that said the cast would include Amy, Andrew, and Dawn. While I doubt Amy and Dawn would be in it, I can see Andrew (Considering how they keep focusing more and more on him).

But if they do do this, it'll be a whole new show. It won't be "Buffy Season 8". Hopefully it'll happen, cause I thought Faith was a great character, and Eliza Dushku is an awesome actress (And by gum, I want to know what her last name is!). And hey, while she's interested in a movie career, being the lead in a tv show can certainly help in that regard. Sarah Michelle Gellar's been in a bunch of movies, now, that she probably wouldn't have been in if she weren't known for Buffy. Being on a regular show can help an actor/actress become more well-known, which never hurts (Unless your work on the tv show sucks, of course. Which for Eliza Dushku, is a rank impossibility!).

From what I heard, SMG is glad that the show is ending so that she can devote more time toward her movie career, and would like to be as busy as Samuel L. Jackson. I mean besides starring on Star Wars, he was on that Formula 51 movie (about a chemist who invented a new designer drug), and a movie with Ben Affleck (can't recall the title, but the story is about two guys who had a fender bender).

Changing Lanes. I think.

I would like to see a series with Faith. I think it would be cool. But I doubt it will happen, and I'd rather see Eliza in movies.

I wonder, if Arnold and Jamie Lee decided to do a True Lies sequel, will Eliza reprise her role as their daughter?

I heard that is going to happen, right after Arnie is done shooting Triplets and Grade School Cop.
