Spoilers Angel 03/04

Mouse,

True that. In any case I fear vampire slayers more after seeing Faith fight. Anyone that can (in D&D terms) have weapon focus and weapon specialization with a dumbell, not someone you want to mess with.

A Strong Hero 3/Shadow Slayer 9/Martial Artist 3 doesn't need weapon specialization to take out a mook with an improvised weapon :)

I actually enjoyed Faith in this episode even though I never enjoyed her on Buffy.

I liked the first few Faith episodes (before it was obvious that they were setting up the Evil Faith thing), but I've got to agree on this one.

Pretty good episode. Easily the best line:

Wes: Angelus is back.
Faith: Step away from the glass.

Hah!

Re: Angel not being evil... interesting theory by IceBear. It would explain why Lorne didn't read him right. And true, he hasn't actually killed any innocents, but a lot of things don't make sense about that:

1. Angelus hurt Cordelia in his escape...Angel would never do that. So Angel would have to know about Evil Cordy the whole time... which is possible, I guess.

2. Why come back to the house to hunt down Lyla if he's not evil?

3. Although he never killed an innocent, he tried to... why would he be "acting" when there's no one around? (e.g., muttering to himself in the phone both after calling Dawn,"Oh, it's the other one." ) It just seems like a lot to swallow. And although he got distracted and didn't kill the girl running from the vamps in the street, he didn't really do anything to take her to safety, did he?

If he's not evil, I'll be a little disappointed on how they played it.

As for Cordy, she's not the First... she can touch stuff, remember?

I like the theory of the baby controlling her... but it's a bit far fetched. I think Cordy's not pregnant at all... it's just a ruse to get Conner to protect her more.

Oh, it's Angelus, all right. Too many things that require explaining away if he wasn't. Especially the points that Lucius raises, namely why act without an audience?

I agree that I liked Faith here much more than I have in the past. She rocked this episode on toast. I would also hasten to point out that Faith may have gotten her butt handed to her by the Beast...but no one else, Angel included, was able to stand toe-to-toe with the Beast for that length of time.

Wacky theory time: What if the baby is the Beast's? "Give me some sugar", indeed. Eww.

Well, I think the main reason he acts evil when there is no "audience" is a bad one, but, because it's a TV show and the writers want to keep us in the dark. It could be explained away by him not knowing if someone might see him or overhear him, weak I know, but if they want to keep the audience guessing :).

Yes, he did hurt Cordelia, but instead of hitting her in a vital spot (that I'm pretty sure Angelus could have) he hit her in the leg. Also, at one point he had her unconscious and alone (when he escaped from the cage). Instead of killing her he locked her inside. That's twice he could have killed Cordy and didn't.

I've seen that episode twice now (I get it on Tuesdays in Canada), and boy, when he was pumping the Beast for information on it's Master he was nearly as obvious as when Andrew was wearing a wire and trying to get the First to talk about its weakness.

Also, I still think it was awful convenient that Angelus didn't do anything in the fight between Faith and the Beast (hoping that Faith could take the Beast maybe?) until the Beast was just about to kill her. He could have waited untilt he Beast had killed her before killing him if that was his plan.

I'm willing to say that I'm off base, but after viewing Angelus pumping the Beast for information it just felt more like an Angel thing to do than an Angelus.

Again - I've changed my mind with the whole baby thing (I forgot that the Father will kill the son was a fake prophecy). As for it being the First, I know it can't touch anything so that's why that's a REALLY weak theory (unless it could possess her or something because she's part demon). It was more of a guess to somehow tie the action on Buffy and Angel together. It's probably something else working with the First.

IceBear

As a friend pointed out to me last night when I also came up with the baby in control theory:

The Beast was already active before Cordy and Connor slept together.

Although I rather like the idea of bringing back the "father will kill the son" prophecy with Connor in the father role.

Or better yet, what if this is all still a part of Holts' plan from last season?

Just some idle rambling on my part...

Good point. But I had hoped as a Slayer she'd be able to take it more. *shrugs* Still not too shabby for her part.

Regardless of how the whole Angel/Angelus plays out, I have a whole new level of respect for Faith. (For the big things as well as the small.)

(Btw barbell dumbell, the fact is she STILL lifted something that might have been her body weight or more in one freaking hand and proceeded to whack said mook. Sure she's a Slayer but I've yet to see Buffy come close to doing something like that. Whack a god sure, but I'm not sure Glorificious in mortal form is on the same level.) (Thanks Drogy for the d20 Modern lesson.)

I noticed that, too. All I can say is, remember that Faith is the "REAL" slayer. They slayer line goes through her... Buffy's just a back-up! :)

True. In any case I do hope that Joss considers running a "Faith, the Rengade Vampire Slayer" as a show idea. Cause I think her and Wes would make an excellent pairing. (Plus two former Buffy alums, traveling the globe, fighting demons, has some appeal. ;) )

Well don't forget Buffy lifting the steel beam like it was nothing in the "Buffy tries to get a job" episode...
